Installation Discipline Lead

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and pleasant colleague to lead the Oslo based section of the largest discipline in the Engineering department.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself within several areas. As Discipline Lead for such a team, you need to demonstrate leadership daily, make wise and good decisions which benefit the organization in the short and long run, and develop the individuals and the organization in line with company strategies. Quality interpersonal communication is key to success in this role, as you will be interfacing with significant parts of the Ocean Installer organization. In a medium-sized company, like Ocean Installer, you will quickly be recognized and get an opportunity to influence.
Out of the 70 engineers in the discipline in Norway, around 15 are working in Oslo. All are allocated to projects, studies, and tenders. Their main tasks are to develop methods for various marine operations, e.g. riser, flowline and umbilical installation, template and manifold installation, spool piece installation, subsea tie-in operations, mooring installation and hook-up, towing, trenching, dredging, pull-in operations to platform or shore, equipment transportation, construction vessel mobilizations/demob. They are also an important part of the team during offshore operations onboard construction vessels and topside of clients’ offshore installations.
Supported from our offices in Stavanger, Aberdeen, and Oslo we have projects ongoing at several locations between Hammerfest in the north and Angola in the south.

- Agree work scope with project/tender/study lead/manager and ensure “fit for purpose” deliverables from the discipline within agreed time
- Actively support the Project Technical Managers with developing schedules and CTRs for work scopes assigned to your discipline
- Assign work tasks and responsibilities to team members
- Provide structure in the discipline by implementing good routines and processes
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement of the company quality systems
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations for safe, cost-efficient, and optimised solutions
- Stay up to date on recent technology relevant to the discipline
- Proactively contribute to the risk management process for the organisation, projects and tenders
- Identify and communicate discipline shortcomings, competence gaps and improvement areas
- Facilitate good communication within your team and with internal interfaces
- Responsible for planning and execution of the yearly performance appraisals
- Participate in recruitment of new personnel
- Assist with the graduate program
- Drive the recourse planning within the Installation discipline in Oslo in close collaboration with the Discipline Leads in Stavanger and Aberdeen
- Contribute to a positive work environment and collaborative climate in the company
- Cooperate closely with the Installation Discipline lead in Stavanger to share the workload within the discipline management
- The Discipline Lead role will be combined with technical project and tender support when required.
