Senior advisor solar power and BESS

Norconsult is Norway's leading consultant in renewable energy, with over 450 employees who support and advice clients on power generation and transmission projects. Our main clients are power companies/IPPs, EPC contractors, and project developers.

Solar power and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is a rapidly growing market area in Norconsult, and we are looking for a new colleague for the utility-scale segment. This is a senior position where the candidate will assist clients with the development, construction, and operation of solar projects and/or BESS projects in the Nordics and beyond. He/she should have experience with ground mounted PV plants and/or large-scale rooftop systems, experience with floating solar (FPV) or utility-scale BESS is a plus.

General responsibilities of the position are:

• Consulting (analysis and/or engineering) in all phases of solar power and/or BESS assignments

• Project management and/or discipline lead in cross functional assignments

• Business development

• Contribution to development of tools, routines, and work processes

Depending on the specific candidate, additional tasks may be:

• Engineering, including CAD work and electrical design

• Inspections/owner’s engineer services/construction management

• Technical due diligence

• Project development activities towards grid owners, authorities, suppliers etc. supporting clients or acting on their behalf

• Tender support: development of technical specifications, tender evaluation, contract review etc.

• Analytical work: sites, technologies, equipment, financial modelling, hybrid projects, procurement, market trends, risks, etc.

The ideal candidate is an electrical engineer who has experience with design and engineering of solar plants/BESS, and relevant field experience with construction and/or operation of solar plants/BESS.

Additionally, he/she has many of these qualifications and personal qualities:

• Higher education in relevant field of study

• Experience with development and analysis of utility-scale PV plants or BESS assets

• Experience with interdisciplinary RE projects

• Experience as an advisor/consultant/analytic

• Experience with MS Office Suite, PVsyst, CAD tools, PV plant design software, Homer, Python, VBA

• Established network in the industry

• Committed and self-driven, but also a team player

• Contributor to a good social and professional environment

• Good communication skills, both written and oral
