DNB Large Corporates & International
Project Finance Analyst to Energy
Do you have a strong interest in risk analysis and structured debt, ambitions to develop a strong industrial- and product skill set, and would like to work in a transaction team to finance projects in the core of the green/energy transition?
In the Energy Division, you will be part of a global team of ~80 people. We represent an internationally oriented business area in DNB covering most industry segments in the energy sector, with focus on Renewables, Oil & Gas and other energy sources of the future.
DNB aims to be a driving force for a sustainable transition by providing and facilitating NOK1,500bn in sustainability linked funding by 2030. Project Finance is expected to be an important source of capital for the green transition.
The Customer Analysis Section (CAS) in Oslo consists of around 15 analysts, including 4 Project Finance (PF) analysts working closely with the PF advisors in Oslo as well as PF resources in Stockholm, London, Warsaw, New York, Santiago and Singapore.
The PF team is responsible for structuring and executing project financings across all industries and geographies in DNB. Most PF transactions have historically been within renewable energy and have been located outside the Nordics, which involves a close working relationship with our colleagues in the international offices both in the structuring/execution phase and during the follow-up of the portfolio.
Over the last couple of years, we have seen a growing transaction volume in our home markets with a primary focus on projects that will support the clean energy transition and renewables with projects ranging from solar PV, on- and offshore wind, power-to-X and gigafactories. We aim to take on leading roles on important projects that drive the climate transition.
About the role
We are looking to expand the analyst team, which work with PF transactions and a wider range of PF-related tasks for the benefit of the global PF set-up in DNB, including:
- Analysis of financial and non-financial risk of projects and counterparty risks, including ESG-risk.
- Driving the process, prepare, and present credit memos for decision makers.
- Gaining and sharing insight into markets, challenges, and opportunities and support the rest of the division on market analysis on various industry segments.
- Support the international offices and ensure consistency on project finance related topics, including credit assessments, portfolio management, use of rating models and internal processes that are managed from HQ.
As a PF Analyst you will work in teams in close cooperation with colleagues in both CAS and the PF Section, as well as representatives from the relevant industry sections. We believe in having an inclusive work environment and an open dialogue within the team. The team expects analysts to be curious and proactive, share new insight and ideas, but also to be eager to learn and develop in both the product and industry dimension.
The position is based in Oslo and will report to the Head of PF CAS Oslo.
About you
We are seeking candidates with relevant analytical background and recent experience in credit/risk analysis/assessment. We will be looking for the following qualifications or aspirations (dependent on experience level):
- Higher education at university level with strong credentials
- 3-6 years relevant experience from finance, relevant industries or similar. We have flexibility to tailor the position and more senior candidates are also encouraged to apply.
- Analytical approach: ability to consume large quantities of information, have an eye for details, and apply information into a bigger context.
- Appreciation for and understanding of risk in more complex/structured debt transactions.
- Ability to work across multiple teams, but also independently on specific tasks (with support).
- Desire and ambitions to develop Senior Analyst and/or Advisor capabilities over time.
- Positive attitude, willingness to contribute.
- Dedication, openness and loyalty
Our working language is a combination of Norwegian and English, hence fluency (verbal and written) in both languages is required.
We can offer a professional, flexible, and social work environment.
The section has a varying workload, which at times can be demanding, but we emphasize flexibility and a good work-life balance. We offer a career opportunity in a transaction environment with highly competent colleagues and in the context of international business and the energy transition. Traveling should be expected.
Please enclose a brief motivation letter together with your CV and transcripts. Applications will be assessed on an ongoing basis.
