The NLJV Technical department is responsible for projects, subsurface, Drilling & Wells and the technical value chain in Northern Lights. In addition to work performed inhouse, NL JV heavily rely on technical services provided to NLJV from the owner companies.
The Technical Management group is responsible for the integrity of the planned value chain and ensuring that all technical aspects throughout the value chain are handled. In addition to studies and project follow up, we also take part in customer negotiations, planning for operations and strategic planning for future growth.
The Drilling and Well Manager position in The Technical Management group is now available. The position is central in following up activities performed by our Technical Service Provider within the D&W area, following up technical studies, plan for operations and support Business Development and Commercial negotiations.

Your role
As our Drilling and Well Manager, you contribute to the definition, development and deployment of our drilling strategy, and ensuring that the company is an accountable and credible operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
- Ensure that NL JV is in compliance with all regulatory requirements imposed by the operator role on the NCS
- Continue to develop and optimize our Business Management System within D&W, focusing on the company’s requirements as an operator and to follow up D&W processes performed by our Technical Service Providers
- Ensure that all deliverables delivered by Technical Service Providers meet minimum safety, technical and quality requirements and that risks are managed in a cost-effective way
- Chair the Drilling and Wells Advisory Sub-committee (DWAS) with the owner companies. Responsible for arranging regular DWAS meetings
- Representing NL JV as an Operator towards relevant Authority agencies in D&W related matters.
- Develop and deploy Drilling and Well (D&W) strategy for future phases
- Support the technical department/subsurface in tasks related to studies and screening efforts including license applications and future phases developments
What we need from you?
The Northern Lights team operates with a "one team" and a strong new business mentality with support from shareholders both directly and through various Service Agreements. You will need to be willing and able to challenge conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, fit for purpose and effective business outcomes.

- Experience with problem-solving and have the ability to seek and share experiences
- High level of self-autonomy, hands-on and action oriented
- Good understanding of the subsurface work, processes, and requirements
We do not expect you to tick every box but having knowledge of technical development and maturing of project development, a network within the D&W community on NCS and having experience from working and experience from CCS wells would be a plus!
Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with a master`s degree in petroleum/drilling engineering. You have proven +/-15 years of experience within D&W on the NCS and also operational leadership experience.
We highly value strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, in both Norwegian and English. While not an absolute requirement, proficiency in both languages is preferred.
Expect some occasional travelling.

Northern Lights JV is responsible for developing and operating CO2 transport and storage facilities, open to third parties, as part of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project. When it starts operations in 2024, it will be the first ever cross-border, open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network, shipping CO2 to an onshore receiving terminal at Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast, before being transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.
