About the role:
We are seeking a seasoned Chief Accountant to lead the financial accountingfunction of our multinational corporation. The successful candidate will oversee theCompany’s global financial operations, ensuring compliance with internationalaccounting standards and regulations. The candidate will manage the relationship with thecompany’s auditor, bank, and external accounting firm. This role requires strategicthinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex financialprocesses across multiple jurisdictions. The position is in Oslo or Stavanger.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the global accounting team (BDO), providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to maintain compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
- Manage the consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities and jurisdictions, including foreign currency translation and intercompany transactions.
- Coordinate with the finance teams to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in collaboration with the finance team.
- Ensure timely completion of internal and external audits, liaising with auditors and addressing any audit findings.
- Assess and mitigate financial risks, including currency exchange, tax, regulatory compliance risks, executing on the Company’s cash management strategy.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting multinational corporations and ensure timely implementation of updates.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Manage the monthly financial close process, perform group consolidation, and produce financial statements.
- Manage the company’s various compensation schemes and be the liaison between HR and the external payroll team.
- Work with the internal compliance team to ensure that process descriptions related to finance and accounting are up to date and compliant with the Company’s certifications (ISO).
- Contribute to the Company’s capitalization requirements, keeping track of the shareholder registry and corporate with external law firms to produce documents related to buying and selling of company stock.
- Final approval of operating expenses, ensuring that invoices and employee expense reports adhere to budgetary constraints and company guidelines.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.
- Experience in accounting, with at least 3 years with a multinational corporation.
- In-depth knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP)and experience with consolidation accounting.
- Strong understanding of tax and regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience managing complex financial systems and ERP software; proficiency in Xledger is preferred.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast- paced, dynamic environment.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively address them.
- High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
- Fluent in English and Norwegian.
