Engasjement

Wars and armed conflicts end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. NPA’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by explosive ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 mine action programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Southeast Europe and the Middle East.

Do you have experience with grant management and/or donor relations? Do you have great communication skills, a structured mindset and an eye for details? Are you curious to develop your skills further and want to be responsible for some of our most important donors? Then you might very well be the candidate that we are looking for!

Location: Oslo (Head Office)

We offer:

  • Interesting, varied and positively challenging tasks. You get the chance to work with some of our most important donors and be responsible for large processes that will develop your skills further.
  • The possibility to travel, for field visits and international events.
  • Insight into the work of the Department of Mine Action and Disarmament’s (DMAD) programmes and the possibility to cooperate with experienced colleagues at Head Office and in the field.
  • Be covered by our comprehensive insurance and pension scheme, which includes travel insurance for you and your family, group life insurance, accident, and critical illness insurance.
  • Five weeks annual holiday, flexible working hours and the possibility for two days of home office per week.
  • Salary per year from 481 882 to 625 511 (NOK) depending on education level and relevant work experience.

This is a 12-month temporary position, with a possibility of a permanent position after the contract has ended. The ideal start-date is in September, but we can be flexible for the right candidate.

What you will do:

  • Act as the Department’s primary source of information on assigned donors (such as UN agencies, Canada, the UK or Japan) including maintaining oversight and providing advice and support on donor requirements and key timelines, upcoming opportunities, and ensuring quality of deliveries to donors.
  • Ongoing communication with institutional donors on programmes/projects.
  • Maintain an overview and detailed knowledge of rules, regulations and requirements from assigned donors and authorities, and communicating any changes to programmes and DMAD Head Office staff.
  • Manage and ensure high quality reporting or proposals to donors in close coordination with country programmes, programme advisors, financial controllers, and other relevant department staff.
  • Alert and advise DMAD management of opportunities, risks and challenges associated with donors/grant management for assigned donors/grants.
  • Review and quality control DMAD’s agreements.
  • Participate in the Strategic Resource Management section’s work on wider donor-related processes, such as fundraising, grant management, compliance and the development, implementation and improvement of systems to support donor-related work and processes.
  • Participate in and represent NPA at relevant internal and external meetings, when required.
  • Any other responsibility, task or duty (global or programme specific) as assigned by the DMAD management.

Requirement:

  • Relevant higher education (e.g. economics, political science, business management, development management, finance) or equivalent qualifications (mine action, overseas relief and development programmes or civil service);
  • Relevant training and certification (e.g. project management, grant management);
  • A minimum 2 years of relevant and documented experience on grant management and/or donor relations (focal point for donors, work experience in an NGO, and of liaising and networking with the UN, national authorities, other NGOs), fundraising experience;
  • Compliance experience (quality assurance of contracts). It is an advantage but not a requirement that you have experience and knowledge in compliance work in development countries, with humanitarian aid and/or humanitarian disarmament/in the mine action sector.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English. Other language skills (specifically German or French) are an advantage;
  • Legal background is an advantage.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be great at collaborating with others, both internally and externally.
