Opera is looking for a talented Accounts Payables Specialist to join the Opera team in Oslo Norway. Our Accounting and Financial Reporting team is dedicated to producing timely and accurate financial statements for the Opera group and its subsidiaries. A strong focus on effective and efficient internal controls over financial reporting is a fundamental aspect of our work. As the company is growing its operations, Opera is searching for a new talented team member who is comfortable with English as a working language, to fill the position as the group’s Accounts Payables Specialist.

As the newest member of our International Accounts Payable team, you will report directly to the Accounting team based in Oslo.

You will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our partly automated supplier invoice process using Workday, our cloud-based accounting system. Your responsibilities will not only be crucial for the AP functions in Norway, but will also extend support to our international entities. In this position you will be challenged with different tasks and responsibilities and get a broad understanding of the AP operations across the company.


Role & Responsibilities

The position entails overseeing Accounts Payable for the Norwegian entities, with key duties including:

  • Communicating with external suppliers and collaborating with internal stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Establishing and updating the supplier database within the accounting system to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Examining incoming supplier invoices to verify details and guarantee timely payment processing.
  • Conducting thorough reconciliations of expense reports and supplier accounts to maintain financial integrity.
  • Assisting in the monthly closing process of the Accounts Payable sector, which includes the preparation of SOX compliance controls.


Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, accompanied by 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in group month-end closing activities, including managing internal controls, will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in Norwegian VAT regulations and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with Workday and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills, is highly desirable.
  • An Ideal Candidate’s Profile:
  • You should possess a strong desire to enhance and elevate Opera's accounts payable process to best-in-class standards.
  • Previous experience in a publicly listed company is highly regarded.
  • A well-organized individual with meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
