At DN Media Group, we work to create products and solutions that allow our journalism to shine and give the readers the insight they need to make better decisions.

As the Tech Lead for our editorial products, you’ll be at the core of our operations. Your product team is responsible for how we present our journalism digitally, how we excel in digital storytelling, personalise the experience, and create more innovative ways to consume news. You will build solutions for ten publications that are market leaders within their sectors; shipping, seafood, energy, and business news. Across our titles, we have more than 3,5 million visits on a global level, which means that many people will benefit from what you work on every day!

Our approach is data-centric, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement. As a Tech Lead, you will collaborate within cross-functional teams, engaging with both developers and analytical experts. Together with product and design, the team will innovate solutions that optimize user experiences and refine our digital journalism offerings.

Your strategic role:

  • You will lead a distributed team of developers and work closely with experts in other areas, such as digital marketing and subscription.
  • Work closely with the product and design teams to make sure we create and deliver great products and services. This means we need to develop and manage our services efficiently and act as a bridge between DN Media Group's main stakeholders and the technical team.
  • You will be reporting to the Head of Engineering and contribute with developing and implementing technical strategies and visions.

Your day-to-day:

  • You will support your team members with technical development and guide how the Editorial Core team operates, actively having a hands-on approach to developing and improving functionality.

  • Enforcing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and implementing quality assurance processes to maintain code quality and consistency across the codebase.
  • Embrace modern development patterns and agile processes to foster efficient collaboration between the product and development teams.
  • Optimize frontend performance, this includes reducing load times, minimizing bundle sizes, and implementing lazy loading techniques.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable, and modular front-end applications. This involves decisions about folder structure, component organization, and API integration strategies.

Your background:

Overall, we are looking for someone who has the ability to analyze complex problems and propose effective solutions, optimize performance bottlenecks, and make architectural decisions that balance technical requirements with business objectives.

This includes:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with either Vue/Node or React/Svelte and would like to learn Vue.
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of JavaScript, CSS and Microservice Architecture on the Frontend.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest or Vitest to write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests for front-end code.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide a team of front-end developers, provide mentorship, and foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Effective communication and the ability to work closely with designers, backend developers, analysts, and other stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English and/or a Scandinavian language.

We will consider applications even if you do not meet every single one of the above requirements, so do not be put off if you don’t match them perfectly!
