About the role

This is a heavily customer-facing role, for which the primary responsibility is the testing of industrial-grade electrical power pods. These are large container-like modules with a transformer, a UPS, a bank of batteries, cooling and fire suppression, that can supply up to 2 MW of electricity for a period. They are connected between the electricity grid and the supported critical infrastructure, such as the power systems of data centres.

The commissioning services provided by Gapit Nordics include setup and configuration of the industrial network, and testing communications on the industrial devices such as breakers, UPS, cooling, and fire systems.

No two days are the same. The key to success is to build strong customer relationships while delivering highly accurate and consistent services.

You’ll spend most of your time performing commissioning testing, either at one of our partner’s factories in the Drammen region or on-site at data centers across the Nordics.

The services that we deliver are in support of very large construction projects where workload requirements can quickly change and fall at inconvenient times, so we are looking for someone who is highly flexible. We plan very carefully but you need to be prepared for sudden schedule changes or, very occasionally, working through a weekend.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be:

·      Testing pods at our customer’s factories in the Drammen area or at data centre sites across the Nordics.

·      Producing professional test output and related documentation for each pod.

·      Working with the rest of the pod team to forecast and plan testing.

·      Building strong relations with customers, colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders.

·      Travelling, often at short notice, to locations across Norway and the Nordics.

·      Creating punch-lists and other important customer service status reports.

·      Organized feedback to your colleagues in terms of lessons-learned and ways to improve.

It’s essential that you have a vocational certification as an electrician (Fagbrev Elektriker [gr. L]), issued either in Norway or DSB-approved foreign certification.

You must have strong computer skills, be able to diagnose and fix basic signal cabling issues, and have experience with technical documentation.

We need you to be able to speak and write confidently and clearly in English.

We think you will enjoy the role most if you have an interest in industrial automation, industrial communication and control signals.

It will be an advantage if you are already familiar with Norwegian health and safety rules and methodology (HMS), and IT systems such as Tripletex, ClickUp, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
