Embedded System Engineer

Lifecare AS (www.lifecare.no) is a Bergen-based company that develops advanced sensor technology suitable for medical, veterinary, and lifestyle/sports-tech devices. Lifecare AS is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange/Euronext Growth with ticker LIFE. The head office is in Bergen and R&D divisions are in Germany and UK. The company's main project is to introduce microsensors for continuous long-term glucose monitoring (Sencell) to the market and facilitate every day's life for patients and pets with diabetes. Sencell is a microsensor based on Lifecare's patented and proprietary Osmotic Pressure Sensing Technology and a candidate for the world's smallest Continuous Glucose Monitoring device.

To succeed in the role, we believe you:

  • Hold an engineering degree at bachelor or master level within the fields of electronics, mechatronics or informatics/computer technology. Other relevant disciplines and backgrounds can also be considered. 
  • Have minimum 5 years of industrial experience in embedded software and hardware development.
  • Possess programming experience in C, C++, C#, Phyton and PCB design software. Also, schematics and ASIC. Knowledge of UX and UI design is advantageous.
  • Accumulated strong knowledge of microcontroller software and circuit design.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Good language skills in English, oral and written. If you're familiar with the German language as well, it is a great bonus.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Design and development of embedded hardware and software from requirements to implementation for production and commercial deployment.
  • Managing the external suppliers and manufacturers, and communication with internal stakeholders to facilitate cross team and cross department initiatives.
  • Troubleshooting of software and hardware using a wide range of testing tools.
  • Developing the test procedures, plans and handover reports for external consultants, suppliers, manufacturers and end users.
  • Tracking of design and code revisions, and managing the released code.
  • Defining the road maps for various product segments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk identification to develop appropriate risk management mitigations and action plans.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and consultants in a fast-paced and agile environment to contribute with innovative solutions, while demonstrating leadership and competence.
