Now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Handler in our Bergen office who understands the importance of such service-mindedness and the benefits curiosity can bring. The successful applicant will contribute to the claims team and The Club as a whole with an “Expect More” mindset – someone dedicated to exceeding our clients’ expectations at all times.

What you’ll be doingAs a Claims Handler, you will be part of a dedicated and dynamic team of specialists working within the global shipping industry. Your main responsibility will be the management of marine casualties, from first notification to final adjustment and payment. If successful in your application, you will also assist clients in contingency situations and be on The Club’s duty operator rota.

A Claims Handler is also involved in market activities towards new and existing clients, together with colleagues in Underwriting and other departments. This will include loss prevention activities, emergency response exercises and experience-transfer workshops on a wide range of marine insurance-related topics.

Given the international nature of business, some travel will be required.

Qualifications and preferred qualities

Our ideal candidate has practical experience from marine insurance and/or shipping/navy and is educated to a Master/Bachelor level within nautical, technical, legal, or similar fields of study. They are also able to quickly understand the wide variety of challenges our clients face globally and provide the support required.

We are looking for someone with an analytic and orderly mind, capable of working independently in a structured manner. Being a positive-minded team player, even when working to multiple deadlines or in high-pressure situations, is a must. Proven, well developed personal skills are also vital.

Experience from technical/commercial ship management and/or claims adjusting and handling will be seen as an advantage for this position.A strong command of Norwegian is required for this role, both verbal and written, in addition to good English skills.

The successful applicant must also have solid information technology capabilities, being familiar with the professional use of MS Office products and the like.
