Esgian is in rapid growth as we expand our portfolio of products and clients. The shipping department is the youngest section in Esgian and was established in the autumn of 2022 with the launch of the RoRo product. The MPP suite was introduced to the market in the summer of last year. These unique software tools have quickly become the reference tool in their respective segments combining innovative commercial and emission analytics and benchmarking.

Why become an Esgian?

We offer a challenging and exciting opportunity to make an impact on the green transition of the Ocean Industries. You will work in a small, dynamic team in a growing international company and participate in developing the company as well as our product offerings.

Esgian is fully committed to diversity, and we promise you an open and inclusive work environment, mentor program and competitive terms of employment.

The Role and its Importance

As one of the world’s most international industries, shipping is a highly volatile and dynamic business influenced by geopolitical, financial and economic developments. In many ways, the industry is a perfect depiction of a supply and demand balance which is in constant flux to regain a new equilibrium. More recently, decarbonization is yet another element that will drive, change and shape the industry in the years to come.

It is with above in mind, we have created the Esgian Shipping Suites for RoRo and MPP – a fresh and unique approach to understand the supply side and its behavior. To further refine, advance and develop our tools, we need a proactive, curious and analytical person who will be an essential part of the team by:

  • Staying on top of market trends and developments within the car carrier (RoRo) and multipurpose (MPP) segment
  • Translating the insights from our product to explain what is happening and the impact of same using both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Writing up stories, newsletters, make business cases and LinkedIn posts to showcase the value of our data
  • Sharpening and refining our marketing tools (presentations, webpages, webinars ++) so that the target audience(s) quickly understand “what’s in it for me?”

While pure commercial aspects will continue to set the tone of the industry, the developments within decarbonization will inevitably influence the competitive landscape. In this role, you’ll be exposed to both facets and make the link between the two.

Qualifications and Background Requirements

As a small knit team, personality and attitude are equally important as formal education and qualifications. You should have a can-do attitude and an interest for digital technologies. Furthermore, you are outgoing, a team player and have a passion for helping clients navigate the energy transition. Further, we believe you are of interest if you can tick off most of the boxes below:

  • A university degree in business or marine engineering with a keen interest in big data
  • 1-5 years of experience in market analysis, but newly graduates with a solid academic record will be considered
  • Experience from shipping/logistics/trade is not a pre-requisite, but an asset
  • Strong numerical skillset coupled with impeccable written presentation skills
  • Ability to translate quantitative data into captivating written analysis
  • Knowledge of graphic design and capability to combine world-class content with appealing lay-out
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as having strong team orientation
  • Commercial flair and strong business acumen
  • Excellent command of English both written and oral
