The Northern Lights Joint Venture Technical department is responsible for projects, subsurface and the technical value chain in Northern Lights . In addition to work performed inhouse, Northern Lights heavily rely on technical services provided to Northern Lights from the its owner companies and external consultancies.


The Technical Management group is responsible for the integrity of the planned value chain and ensuring all technical aspects throughout the value chain are handled. In addition to studies and project follow up, we also take part in customer negotiations, planning for operations and strategic planning for future growth.

Your role

As our CCS Growth Engineer, you'll use your expertise in early-stage facilities projects and you'll lead and contribute to diverse tasks, leaving your mark on every project.

As the business development is diverse, the specific support & participation task set below are indicating some specific tasks but is not an exhaustive list:

  • Drive early concept development process to concept select
  • Drive cross functional integration of all business case deliverables (Subsurface, Drilling & Wells, D&W, Facilities, Operations, Value chain to market and Commercial) to ensure integrated and operability solutions
  • Ownership of conceptual design, site analysis, urban/space planning, and material selection
  • Collaboration (internal/external), regulatory requirements understanding and compliance
  • Interaction with Technical Service Providers / external consultants to embed the Northern Lights needs (interfaces, roles and responsibilities are clear)
  • Cost estimation review and challenge
  • Drive concept studies and feasibility studies for CCS
  • Ensure proper and appropriate documentation in place at all stages and handover points
  • Development of relevant procedures and processes


What we need from you

The Northern Lights team operates with a "one team" and a strong new business mentality with support from shareholders both directly and through various Service Agreements. You will need to be willing and able to challenge conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, fit for purpose and effective business outcomes.


More specifically:

  • Early project phase experience
  • Ability to see the ‘big picture’ and support strategic analysis
  • Pro-active self-starter with initiative and drive to get things done

We do not expect you to tick every box but being familiar with EU CCS regulations, having experience from working across the full value chain together with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills would be a plus!


Qualifications

  • You hold a Master’s, or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • We highly value strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, in both Norwegian and English. While not an absolute requirement, proficiency in both languages is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in early-phase facility engineering or a similar role


Expect some occasional travelling.

Northern Lights JV is responsible for developing and operating CO2 transport and storage facilities, open to third parties, as part of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project. When it starts operations in 2024, it will be the first ever cross-border, open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network, shipping CO2 to an onshore receiving terminal at Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast, before being transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.
Northern Lights JV DA is a registered, incorporated General Partnership with Shared Liability (DA) owned equally by Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies.
