Satellite Engineer


Responsibilities

The Spacecraft Engineer – shall support all technical areas within the Satellite Operations department, e.g. flight dynamics/orbital mechanics, satellite platforms with associated sub-systems, power management, payload configuration and ground control systems.



Qualifications

  • Education from university or equivalent with Bachelor or Master Degree in Spacecraft/Aerospace, Satellite operations/communication, Applied Physics or Electronics.
  • 3-5 years of experience with communication satellites, or other relevant experience from satellite engineering or orbital mechanics. Newly graduated engineers will be considered if academic curriculum is relevant.
  • Knowledge of geostationary satellite platforms.
  • Programming skills essential. (Python, Java, C++ etc).
  • Network experience an advantage.
  • Spoken and written Norwegian and English is essential. 
  • It will be advantageous to have experience from technical 24/7 operational environments.
  • Successful gaining security clearance is a condition of employment.



Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor spacecraft health, performing trend analysis of the Thor satellite subsystems.
  • Generate health reports as required based on trend analysis data.
  • Follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) providing expert technical support to the satellite controller team.
  • Develop, maintain and validate scripts and procedures for mission operations
  • Liaise with spacecraft manufacturers to resolve possible problems and optimize satellite performance.
  • Understand Ground/Spacecraft capabilities, limitations, and operating modes.
  • Support satellite procurement projects as required.
  • Travel may occasionally be required for short periods. Oslo area shall be the primary place of work.



Personal qualifications

  • Service minded, customer satisfaction in focus, to support outside regular office hours is a prerequisite.
  • Structured, on time, tidy workspace, and good control of documentation and responsibilities.
  • Autonomous, plan and prioritize own activities.
  • Curious, willing to learn.
  • Team player.
