Ground Engineer, TT&C Systems Engineer



Responsibilities

The TT&C Systems Engineer – shall be responsible for maintaining all RF, Antenna and Baseband equipment associated with TT&C for the THOR Fleet of satellites reporting to the Director of Satellite Operations.



Tasks and responsibilities

  • The role requires the ability to work independently and under pressure in a stressful operational environment.
  • The candidate must be hands on in all aspects of TT&C maintenance and repair.
  • The role requires travel to TT&C sites (sometime at short notice) to maintain and trouble shoot issues.
  • The candidate shall participate or manage projects related to ground system procurements including midlife upgrades and enhancements of existing equipment.
  • Responsible for following up SLA agreements for various TT&C services, such as antenna lubrication, and de-icing system.
  • Responsible for purchasing RF related hardware and responsible for all logistics related to purchasing and unit repairs.
  • Manage and organize all relevant ground related documentation.
  • Perform training for first line personnel at the TT&C sites and satellite operations personnel.
  • Regular reporting on maintenance and performance issues.
  • Nittedal Earth Station shall be the primary place of work.



Qualifications

  • Education from university or equivalent with BSc or MSc in Electrical/Telecommunications engineering with an extensive knowledge of RF and telecom theory, antenna design and satellite communications.
  • 3-5 years of engineering experience in satellite TT&C ground systems, maintaining all associated ground infrastructure.
  • It is an advantage if the candidate has experience in the principles of spread spectrum ranging and associated ground equipment.
  • Network experience an advantage.
  • The candidate must be qualified and willing to work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
  • Spoken and written Norwegian and English is essential.
  • Successful gaining security clearance is a condition of employment.

  • Ability to plan and prioritize own activities. 
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills to resolve issues fast.
  • Analytical in approach to resolving issues.
  • Excellent hands-on engineering skills.
  • Curios, willing to learn and has a natural curiosity to understand details.
  • Team player, work for the good of the team.
