We are now looking for a Principal Chief Engineer to lead and coordinate a team of Chief Engineers for our projects!

Duties and responsibilities

We are looking for a principal chief engineer that can coordinate a team of chief engineers. The position will be part of our Engineering Project Management department within Design & Engineering. You will be responsible for providing guidance and overview of the chief engineer team, and their involvement in the projects. Define, follow-up and deliver scope of work, schedule and budget for assigned tasks. Provide guidance, train new chief engineers, develop competence and keep abreast of industry trends and state of the art development. It is also expected that the principal chief engineer can step in and act as chief engineer in the projects when necessary.

Below are listed some important tasks:

• Support the department manager with recruiting and hiring to fill team positions.
• Follow-up and coordinate allocated resources.
• Budget and schedule allocated to the teams scope of work.
• Support the department manager for development and management of the department.
• Develop standards, procedures, guidelines for the team, according to best practices and future needs.
• Support and mentor the chief engineers.
• Responsible for planning, organizing and executing assignments and tasks for the team.
• Responsible for coordinating all relevant parties, internal and external, related to executing assignments and tasks within the team.
  

Qualifications

• Relevant technical education from university or vocational school
• Chief Engineer and sailing experience
• Experienced in rules & regulations related to design and shipbuilding
• Experience from newbuildings
• Broad experience about vessel systems, equipment and integration
