Senior Engineer -Structural Design and Analysis

ARE YOU LOOKING TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OCEAN WIND?

SO ARE WE!

Join us and get the chance to make those ambitions a reality.

Odfjell Oceanwind is looking for Senior Engineer - Structural Design and Analysis to help us reach our goal of being the world's leading provider of floating offshore wind technology.

Odfjell Oceanwind is a privately owned company located together with our sister companies Odfjell Drilling and Odfjell Technology. We combine 50 years of experience from operating in offshore harsh environments with 20 years of experience from floating offshore wind to create floating offshore wind solutions for the future.

We are a leading developer of floating offshore wind turbines, dedicated to producing sustainable and reliable energy solutions. Our mission is to accelerate the development of floating offshore wind. Our team is composed of talented engineers, designers, and innovators, all working together to create cutting-edge technologies and push the boundaries of renewable energy.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer with a strong background in structural design and analysis of floating offshore structures to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving our floating offshore wind turbine design, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability. This is an exciting opportunity to work on challenging and innovative projects, and to contribute to the growth and success of our company.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct global and local structural analyses of floating offshore wind turbine design.
  • Direct involvement in the development of both global and local structural design. Provide input, guidance, and comments to structural drawings.
  • Project execution and follow-up towards yard.
  • Challenge and improve existing methods and models for how we assess dynamic floater performance, wave-structure interaction, in Ultimate and Fatigue Limit States.
  • Work closely with our team of engineers to optimize our floating wind turbine design and ensure its safety, reliability, and efficiency in a lifetime perspective.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance and support to other team members as required.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in floating offshore wind turbine design and apply this knowledge to improve our technologies and processes.
  • Develop and implement numerical models using Python and perform analysis using software packages such as Sesam.
  • Conduct data analysis and visualization and generate technical reports.

Diversity makes us stronger, and we encourage anyone who believes they have what it takes to apply. But we think those most suitable for the role will identify with the following:

  • A Master's or PhD Degree in Marine Technology, Ocean Engineering, Physics or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in structural design and analysis of floating offshore structures, such as:
    • Structural analysis
    • Hydrodynamic analysis
    • Global and local structural design
    • Structural drawings and delivery of design packages for Class approval
    • Time-domain coupled analysis
  • Experience with global and local structural design, finite element analysis and diffraction/radiation analysis is beneficial.
  • Practical experience from fabrication yard will be beneficial.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with software packages such as SESAM.
  • Experience with relevant DNV recommended practices, rules and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills in Norwegian and English (oral and written), with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
  • A passion for renewable energy and a commitment to creating sustainable solutions.

You know each day is unique, each project a new challenge and each client a new trusting relationship to be developed. You know the risks and unforeseen challenges of a new technology, being built under a demanding timescale, for the world's harshest environments.

And you love the idea of the challenge ... that's why you'll apply!

We are building an organization to lead the way in design and operation of floating offshore wind turbines in harsh environments. In Odfjell Oceanwind you will become part of a highly capable technical organization with the backing of Odfjell Drilling and Odfjell Technology.

We can offer everything you would expect of a pioneering renewables company, a competitive package including good benefits, but more importantly we can offer you the chance to get in early, to learn and grow with some of the best in the business, and to make a difference-now and for the future. The company has offices in Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo. This position is located in Bergen.
