A three-year-full-time position as a PhD research fellow is available in Russnes` research group at the Department of Cancer Genetics, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital.
The immune system is central to breast cancer development and the metastatic process, underscoring its significance as a target for immunotherapy. A comprehensive understanding of the interplay between tumor cells and immune system during tumor progression is essential for the understanding of the disease and for identifying potential therapeutic targets. The overarching objective of this PhD project is to investigate the interplay between tumor cells and immune cells throughout the stages of breast cancer progression.
Work tasks
We are seeking a highly motivated and curious candidate for the position, who will have the following responsibilities: conducting animal experiments, cancer immunology related experiments, method optimization, acquiring knowledge in relevant analysis tools and methods, data analysis, and manuscript writing. According to University of Oslo guidelines, necessary courses will also be completed, and the candidate will present the work at international conferences. As a PhD candidate you will receive training, supervision, and work in a fun, dynamic, and multidisciplinary environment. While an interest and knowledge in data and programming are advantageous, they are not absolute requirementsQualifications
- The candidate must hold a Master's degree in medicine, molecular biology, biomedicine, or equivalent, obtained with grades sufficient to be enrolled in the PhD program of the University of Oslo.
- Knowledge of cancer biology or immunology CareIn/FELASA certificate is an advantage
- Experience with in situ methods is an advantage
- Knowledge of image analysis and programming is beneficial
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
