Laerdal Medical is looking for a Materials Engineer within manufacturing process development, in Stavanger Norway, to explore and implement new processing and production technologies for Laerdal healthcare simulators, resuscitation manikins and therapy products. In this role, you will get a front-row position to transform a wide range of polymeric materials into high-tech physical parts.

To continue being a world leader in innovative material use and to decrease our time to market, we need to focus on new potential technologies for the future, such as additive manufacturing, casting, and foaming. Essential part of the role is also to support our sustainability journey with focus on low-emitting manufacturing methods and low footprint materials.

Importantly, you will play a pivotal part in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturing. You will be part of our material engineering team and collaborate closely with our talented engineering and manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for improvement, implement innovative solutions, and drive continuous process enhancement – none of these departments can drive the change alone. You will get to work both in our innovation hub in the middle of Stavanger, but also in our brand-new world’s best healthcare simulation factory located close by.

Some of what you will be doing

- Evaluate needs for new manufacturing technologies based on product development needs and current production capacity

- Identify and test new relevant materials, processes and production technologies for Laerdal hardware products

- Implement the most promising technologies in Laerdal manufacturing

- Conduct practical tests with different manufacturing technologies

- Collaborate with Supply Chain & Manufacturing to utilize current processes and capacity optimally

- Actively search for new technologies and partners relevant to Laerdal manufacturing

- Stay updated on external competencies that Laerdal might need today and in the future

Who we envision would fit the role

You are a passionate engineer who thrives on innovation and problem-solving. You possess strong collaboration skills, as you will work in tandem with various teams to drive our continuous process development.

We hope you are a curious individual who has an eye for detail, is self-driven and eager to learn.

Being fluent in English, both written and spoken, is a prerequisite, and fluency in a Scandinavian language would be a distinct advantage.

Desired Qualifications:

- Minimum bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Material Engineering, Product Development, Industrial Design, or another relevant discipline

- Experience with the following manufacturing processes is preferred: injection molding, rotational molding, additive manufacturing, compounding, foam molding, casting, and gravity molding

- Practical, hands-on experience with industrial manufacturing processes and with machinery used in the above mentioned processes

- Possess a wide knowledge of different polymeric materials and suitable processing methods

- Knowledge of companies relevant for external competency in this domain

- Knowledge about sustainable materials

- Knowledge about sustainability aspect of processing methods, like emission factors of different methods and recyclability

Some of what we can offer you

At Laerdal, you will get the opportunity to learn, develop, and innovate and you will be a part of a local and international working environment where the possibility to make an impact is endless.

- An interesting and important job contributing to our mission

- Great opportunities for growth and personal development

- A multicultural office environment and collaboration with strong team in Stavanger and locations around the world.

- A creative, diverse, and inclusive organization

- A job in a company driving forward-thinking technology
