We have a vacancy for a 2-year postdoctoral researcher position in computational biology and biostatistics for the period 01.07.2024 - 30.06.2026, with a possibility for extension pending on successful review.

The funding comes from the Norwegian Cancer Society in the research group of Prof. Tero Aittokallio at Department of Cancer Genetics, Institute for CancerResearch (https://www.ous-research.no/aittokallio/). The group is also affiliated with University of Oslo, Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE), a joint centre with Oslo University Hospital.

Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is essential to perform the tasks required of us. Therefore, we pursue diversity among our job applicants and encourage everyone to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.

Work tasks

The research group of Prof. Tero Aittokallio develops computational approaches that combine multi-omics genomic/molecular profiling and clinical information from cancer patients using mathematical and statistical approaches such as machine learning and network modelling. The medical aim is to optimize treatment outcomes for individual patients using maximally predictive models and minimal biomarker signatures.

The group is now seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher, with strong computational and modelling skills. The postdoc will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment at Oslo University Hospital to develop methods for improved design and mathematical analysis of pre-clinical anticancer monotherapy and combination experiments in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo to predict personalized treatment approaches for cancer patients.

The successful candidate will be employed at the Department of Cancer Genetics, located at the Institute for Cancer Research, and will work in a team of computational biologists in a close collaboration with experimental scientists, medical doctors and lab engineers. The position provides possibilities for networking in academia and industry, supervising PhD students, writing manuscripts, and presenting at conferences.

The position will offer a vantage point in the rapidly developing field of functional precision medicine, with versatile opportunities to learn and become an expert in the field, where there is a growing requirement for data scientists. Our multicultural and multidisciplinary organisation prides itself in a working community that fosters creativity and diversity, and a relaxed workplace with a Nordic style of work-life balance.
