Senior CCS Subsurface Spesialist

Northern Lights is looking for an experienced subsurface specialist to help us increase our CO2 storage capacity.

As Senior CCS Subsurface Specialist you will support the evaluation of CO2 storage potential within existing and new licence areas, but also be responsible for rock mechanic analyses and support injection optimisation.

At Northern Lights we are dedicated to creating an open and flexible infrastructure to transport CO2 from across Europe for permanent and safe storage deep below the seabed in Norway. Our purpose is to create real progress towards tackling climate change, in a way that makes it easy for others to follow.

Responsibilities:

  • Rock mechanic analyses and support stress measurement and injection optimisation
  • Analyse the stability of reservoirs to ensure safe storage of CO2
  • Dynamic reservoir modelling studies to assess and optimise safe CO2 storage through effective pressure and CO2 plume migration management
  • Support Northern Lights preparations for operations and support follow up of operations
  • Support risk assessments
  • Be an ambassador for the values of Northern Lights

One of your most important tasks aside from your responsibilities as a Senior CCS Subsurface Specialist, will be the willingness to be part of building the Northern Lights culture and contribute to the success of the company.

We would love to be in contact with you, if you possess a keen curiosity and passion for emerging climate technologies, along with the ability to adapt to dynamic internal and external environments, seize this opportunity to become an integral part of the burgeoning CCS industry in Norway and Europe.

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a masters degree e.g., with reservoir modelling proficiency and who have relevant analytical reservoir experience. To support injection optimisation and rock mechanic analysis, we believe you have cross-disciplinary experience and are familiar with geophysics, geology, geomechanic or rock mechanics in addition to reservoir engineering. Desired candidates are energized by highly professional colleagues and challenging tasks. Experience from CCS is not a requirement.

Our Subsurface team succeeds because we are focusing on value creation and have the curiosity to learn and promote continuous improvement. To thrive, we believe you are independent, take initiatives and work effectively in a cross discipline subsurface environment. You are also flexible and autonomous with an analytical mindset. We highly value strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, in both Norwegian and English. While not an absolute requirement, proficiency in both languages is preferred. You report to the CCS Subsurface Manager.

You will play a pivotal role in contributing to the success of Northern Lights by embodying our core values Innovative, Dedicated, Reliable, and Open. Northern Lights offers committed, experienced and dedicated colleagues, a competitive pay package, good pension and insurance schemes.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please submit your application and CV via the link as soon as possible, and no later than 19.04.2024. We will be interviewing relevant candidates continuously, so apply already today. We look forward to hearing from you.
