The Department and research group: The Institute for Cancer Research, invites applications for a full-time, temporary Engineer position (08.04.2024-30.11.2024) at the Department of Molecular Cell Biology, associated with the lab of Dr. Tor Erik Rusten.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join the team as senior engineer/overingeniør in a lab management and wet lab role to support the team in its work on the intersection of tumor-host biology using Drosophila melanogaster as well as human iPSC-derived organoid cell culture.

Key Responsibilities

Departmental Support:
Update and manage EcoOnline/Ehåndbok on chemicals and safety procedures.
Assist in procurement of laboratory goods and services
Maintain the department chemical inventory.

Lab Specific Tasks:
Maintain and manage fly stocks, including inventory of genetic stock lists.
Microdissect larval and adult tissues for immmunostainings, biochemical and Omics analysis.
Conduct flow cytometry and FACS sorting from tissues, organoids, and cells.
Prepare samples for Metabolomics and RNA sequencing from flies and mammalian cells.
Perform advanced confocal and live microscopy, including image analysis via Fiji and statistical analysis.
Molecular Biology/cloning of constructs for cell biology and fly transgenesis.
Manage the sending of samples for sequencing and analysis
Execute Drosophila and cell culture experiments, providing support across various projects.

Requirements

PhD within the fields of Molecular and Cell Biology.
Applicants holding a MSc degree may be considered.
Strong background in Cell and molecular biology.
Experience with Drosophila melanogaster research is a strong advantage
Proficient in cell culture techniques and experimental planning in cell and molecular biology.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
A service-minded, collaborative spirit with a strong sense of responsibility.

Personal qualifications

Good command of English, team player, well-organized, flexible, positive attitude in collaborations with others.
