Reporting directly to the Head of Global IS/IT, you will play a pivotal role as a key member of our IT leadership team, collaborating across all Nel business units and locations.

Main responsibilities

Security Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures for OT/ICS systems in alignment with IEC 62443, ISO 27001, and NIST SP 800-82 standards to ensure Nel can meet the current and future cyber security needs from our customers in all regions of the world.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with these standards.
  • Be a link and cooperate with Nel Alkaline Service Operations Center (NASOC) around relevant cyber security policies, procedures, for development of Nel ASA cyber security standards.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

  • Identify potential security risks to OT/ICS systems and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Implement robust incident response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness for cyber incidents and to address customer cybersecurity concerns.

Security Architecture and System Design:

  • Design and maintain secure architecture for OT/ICS systems and ensure that security is integrated into the lifecycle of all OT/ICS systems from conception through decommissioning.

Training and Awareness:

  • Conduct regular training sessions for staff on cybersecurity best practices and awareness and be prepared to deliver training to customers where appropriate.
  • Share and advocate cyber security principles together with IT ensuring increased overall Nel cyber security matureness.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with IT, engineering, and other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to OT/ICS security and be prepared to brief customers and conduct site visits (international)
  • Collaborate with Quality assurance manager and others to attain cybersecurity accreditation.


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with architectural work and approaches for OT/cyber security process development
  • Knowledge of international frameworks including IEC 62443, ISO-27001, EU NIS 2, US CSF 2.0 (typically NIST-800-53 etc.)
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in commercial and sales strategies and processes
  • Used to navigate in cross-functional international environments
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required. Good Norwegian skills would be an advantage
  • Valid work permit in Norway

Work location: The position can be based at our premises in Notodden (preferred) or at Herøya or Skøyen, Oslo.
