Payroll Accountant - Lønningsansvarlig

Sekal is a dynamic and growing company in need of a versatile Payroll Accountant who will also provide essential support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in various general accounting tasks.We are seeking a talented and independent Payroll Accountant to manage our payroll processes for both Norwegian and UK employees. This role requires a deep understanding of Norwegian payroll laws and regulations. Payroll Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly end-to-end payroll processing for Norwegian employees according to Norwegian laws and regulations accurately and efficiently.
• Process payroll for our  UK employees by being the point of contact to Sekal’s external payroll agency(located in UK) and ensuring compliance with UK regulations.
• Prepare and submit payroll taxes, deductions, and contributions for both countries.
• Review and reconcile payroll  data to maintain accuracy.
• Ensure compliance and stay updated on changes in Norwegian and UK*(*with support from Sekal’s external payroll agency) payroll and tax requirements.
• Stay updated on payroll regulations and make recommendations for process improvements.
• Work closely with HR teams to ensure accurate employee records, data and policies.
• Be the point of contact for Pension and insurance providers.
• Responsible for the payroll software Xledger including internal support and training of employees.

Accountant responsibilities:

• Bank reconciliation
• Various accounting tasks such as invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Accrue revenue and expenses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Inventory management/support/training
• Process payments – NOK and foreign currencies.
• Manage vendor master data and vendor reconciliation
• Prepare and submit VAT declaration and ensure reconciliation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Payroll Accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Norwegian payroll regulations, pension schemes, tax laws, and compliance. Knowledge and experience in UK payroll regulations is not an requirement, but a preferred advantage
• Familiarity with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension schemes. Is an advantage, but not a requirement, but you must be eager to learn
• Proficiency in payroll and accounting software, preferably Xledger and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Language Requirements: Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing in both Norwegian and English.
