RFN has been actively involved in preserving the largest intact rainforests in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) through partnerships with local civil society organizations. We aim to enhance our initiatives' impact in these regions by expanding our funding sources, bolstering organizational capabilities, and fostering stronger regional collaborations. We seek an accomplished manager with experience in program management and in-depth knowledge of Indonesia and PNG to spearhead this work.

The grants manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that RFN's country-specific grants are efficiently managed and meet the requirements of our donors within specified timelines.

Location:

RFN has its headquarters in Oslo. The position will be based in Oslo or other relevant locations, but extensive travel to Oslo will be required. The position will require work across multiple time zones, travel, and collaboration with colleagues in different regions. Availability to travel is expected.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all processes and deliverables related to the grant agreements across the country team, including submitting the deliverables to the donor.
  • Be the donor's main contact person on grant management issues and advise the team leader on strategic issues (including budget issues) and decisions related to the grant.
  • Lead the country team's annual planning and reporting processes on country-specific grant agreements in line with RFN procedures.
  • Contribute to developing grant management tools, templates, and procedures in RFN to continually improve the grant management processes.

Qualifications, skills, and experience

  • Advanced knowledge in donor and aid - schemes acquired through higher education (normally master's) and/or relevant experience. Formal education can be compensated with documented and relevant experience.
  • In-depth understanding of results-based management systems and demonstrated ability to carry out project and program management. This includes excellent finance/budget management skills.
  • Able to work independently with limited guidance from the line manager.
  • Experience in multicultural and international working environment settings.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English is required, and a professional understanding of Indonesian is a strong asset. Other rainforest languages and Norwegian are also assets.
  • Demonstrates experience in assessing opportunities, challenges, and stakeholders with which to engage.
  • A conscientious and structured person with solid planning and program management skills, including computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with problem-solving ability.

We can offer

  • A full-time permanent position with access to high-quality office facilities in downtown Oslo.
  • Competitive salary, comprehensive insurance, and pension benefits.
  • Flexible working hours with the autonomy to design the work.
  • Opportunities for advancing professional growth and development.
  • Engaging and impactful tasks in a dynamic international setting, defined by diversity, camaraderie, humor, and driven coworkers.
