We are now looking for a Software Engineer – Backend to join the Volue Insight team. 

At Volue Insight, we empower our customers to make informed decisions based on data. This includes developing pricing models for their energy products, determining optimal times to buy energy, and making strategic investments in renewable power plants or power-consuming industries.

The Development department in Volue Insight builds and operates a self-serve data platform for efficient storage, modelling, and distribution of substantial amounts of time series data.

Volue Insight works with an agile mindset, and we are continuously working to improve our way of work. We run all our infrastructure on Google Cloud using Kubernetes. Most of our software is written in Python, with Django serving as the framework for our web applications. As a Software Engineer in Volue Insight, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of technologies and collaborate with talented colleagues to develop our SaaS offerings.

What you will be doing to make a difference:

  Improve Our Applications: Collaborate closely with our team to enhance our applications, leveraging your expertise to implement robust solutions that meet our evolving needs.
• 
  Collaborate with Product Managers: Work alongside product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• 
  Participate in Technical Projects: Contribute to the design and implementation of critical technical projects spanning multiple teams and departments.
• 
  Stay Updated: Keep up to date with the latest technologies, frameworks, and best practices to continually improve our development processes and drive innovation.

What you need to succeed:

• BSc Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Solid knowledge of Python and familiarity with design patterns
• Experience in using and designing distributed systems, data pipelines, databases and APIs
• Being a Code Quality Advocate: you are capable of writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with a focus on ensuring the overall quality of the codebase.
• Modern Development Methodology: experience with modern development practices, including automated testing, peer code review, GitHub flow, continuous integration, and deployment.

Extra candidate points for:

• Django: all our backend python applications are built with Django as a framework.
• Cloud Platform: familiarity with modern cloud architectures and platforms such as Google Cloud would be a significant advantage
• gRPC Knowledge: gRPC is our framework of choice for service-to-service communication.
• Frontend Technologies: basic understanding of frontend technologies, such as JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like Next.js.
• GitHub Actions: experience with GitHub Actions for automating workflows in the software development lifecycle.

We are looking to hire for Volue office in Oslo, Arendal or Berlin but will be ready to consider other locations for the right candidate.
