About the role 

In the Simulation Software Product Group, we are building a scalable digital simulation ecosystem which provides our customers more value and impact by helping healthcare professionals and educators improve the delivery of training and education through physical simulation. As part of our team, you will work alongside dedicated and creative software engineers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and product experts to solve new challenges as we help save lives by developing the best products and capabilities in the industry. 

As Engineering Manager - Simulation Software, based in Stavanger, Norway, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of highly skilled software engineers. This team is responsible for developing customer-facing applications that work in conjunction with our physical manikins to provide realistic and immersive training scenarios for healthcare professionals. These applications are used within healthcare education and by healthcare providers worldwide. 

Some of what you will be doing 

•  Leading and managing a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and supporting the delivery of the team's goals 
•  Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to drive roadmap creation and execution, while keeping engineering tradeoffs - tech debt - at bay 
•  Driving the software development lifecycle, including planning, estimation, development, testing, and deployment 
•  Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team 
•  Ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes 
•  Staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive product innovation

 Preferred qualifications and experience: 

•  A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent 
•  Proven experience as a software engineering manager or similar leadership role 
•  Strong background in software development, preferably in building customer-facing applications.  
•  Developing applications for the cloud and/or mobile apps is a plus. 
•  Proficient in multiple programming languages and frameworks (e.g., .NET, C#, Angular, React).  
•  Experience working in an Agile development environment 
•  Excellent management and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team 
•  Knowledge of healthcare simulation or medical education is a plus
