Galleon Embedded Computing is a leading supplier of rugged computers, servers, NAS and data recorders. These products are mission critical equipment in defense applications built by our key customers. In Europe, Galleon is a key supplier to Airbus, Hensoldt, SAAB, Rheinmetall, Leonardo and Kongsberg, to name a few of the most prominent ones. 

You will have your primary office at the Galleon headquarters in Oslo, Norway and report to the CTO of Galleon. Galleon also has a design and integration office in Munich, Germany and sales offices in the UK and USA. 


In Galleon, working as a Sales Engineer, you play a critical role in building and maintaining strong relationships with the most important clients and customers in the defense industry. The primary focus is to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by our key customers, provide tailored solutions to solve their problems, and ensure the long-term success of these strategic partnerships. 

At Galleon, we pride ourselves in being the go-to resource for our customers. This includes identifying and educating prospective customers, supporting existing customers with information and assistance, technical solutions, continuous improvement and innovation. 

You will primarily work with customers in Scandinavia, but additional regions may be added as required in the future. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Engineering background is an advantage 
  • Experience working with a defense organization or in the Nordic defense industry (either as supplier or integrator/customer) is essential 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the customers’ organization. This includes understanding their specific needs, goals and challenges. 
  • Qualifying new customers and creating a relationship with them 
  • Building on Galleon’s success with existing customers, maintaining relationships with those customers and acting as the main POC  
  • Maintain regular contact with customers, including periodic visits, through the sales process – discovery, predesign, proposal, closing and post sales activities. 
  • Lead the drafting of RFI, RFP and RFQ responses, coordinating with Engineering and Product Managers as required, to provide a winning solution to customers 
  • Present and discuss solutions with customers and explain technical concepts 
  • Identify key factors that increase the probability of winning a contract/getting a contract/PO from customers 
  • Bridging between customers and engineering, production and compliance, by providing clear and traceable requirements for handover to engineering and production with purchase orders 
  • Support customers through the post-sale process 
  • Responsible for ensuring that all interactions and agreements with key clients adhere to government regulations, export controls and business ethics. 
  • Transfer market, competitor, and customer information to the Product Manager 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Requires a high degree of self-motivation to coordinate efforts with remote colleagues to ensure that proposed products will win the business whilst meeting profit margin targets 
  • Demonstrated ability to win and maintain business in the defense electronics market 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and either Swedish, Danish or Norwegian 
  • Possess strong presentation skills to engage the attention of customers 
  • Possess a strong ability to build confidence with customers 
  • Knowledge of Military standards (MIL-STD), aviation standards (DO-160), contracting and export regulations for military systems is an advantage 
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook 
  • Ability to obtain security clearance in at least one of the Nordic countries or a NATO member state
