ABB Marine & Ports Norway is expanding its team with a new position for Drilling Drives Service Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to work with ABB’s power systems on ships/rigs worldwide!


Your responsibilities

Your workplace will mainly be onboard modern drill ships/drilling rigs where your work tasks would be Service, Retrofit and Commissioning of ABB ACS800 and ACS880 Low Voltage Drive systems, including Control system running on AC800M controllers also including ABB HMI.


The applicant must be motivated for travelling! One week you may work in Norway, another week you may work in the Far East. Travels could be everything from 1 day to several weeks, but together we try to make a work schedule which would fit both the employee and the customers.


Your background

  • College / University (Bachelor) / Technical College.
  • Must be fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • Experience within electrical power and/or automation systems onboard ships or rigs is an advantage but not an absolute requirement.
  • If you have experience as a ship/rig electrician, drilling systems, experience from shipyards, understanding and interest in marine installations that would be an advantage.

 We emphasize:

  • Ability to perform tasks under pressure.
  • Good understanding of marine systems.
