Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be part of the technical team in the Highseas product line which is responsible for engineering, construction supervision and commissioning support of energy handling systems for marine applications. Highseas’ contribution to the decarbonization of the shipping industry is done by delivering of solutions utilizing alternative fuels for marine decarbonization: Today, this is gas handling systems for LNG, but also in the development of solutions for handling of future fuels such as ammonia.
The role will be involved in all stages of project execution, starting back in product development and well into engineering, procurement, construction supervision and commissioning of marine process plants for handling of combustible, cryogenic or pressurized fuels.
Typical work tasks are:
- Engineering of mechanical structures in process plants
- Specification of rotating or static equipment based on the Process Engineer’s input
- Technical clarifications with customer, class society and suppliers.
- Technical coordination / review and approval of detail engineering like pipe routing, skid designs
- Technical support to procurement and following manufacturing and delivery of equipment
- Attending commissioning, safety studies and equipment FATs
- Preparation of Piping Specifications, Piping Classes
- Interfacing with process, electrical and automation engineering
- Review and approval of stress calculations reports and structural strength calculations (for ex. piping systems, tank design, etc).
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience as packaging engineer, handling inquiry processes to procure large machinery package units and/or skids from equipment makers worldwide
- Ability to overview and keep the holistic view on the system design and its integration into the vessels environment
- Experience with specification of valves, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and other gas handling components
- Familiar with ASME, EN, (DIN) standards as well as industry relevant applicable norms and recommended practices
- Software knowledge: AutoCad
- Very good working proficiency in written and spoken English language.
- Proactive and self-propelled workstyle
- Systematic and problem-solving work approach
Furthermore, following skill-set would support the application
- Knowledge about the maritime regulatory regime
- Familiarity with the maritime industry and operator/charterer/shipyard
- Rules and Regulations applicable to gas handling marine equipment, namely Classification rules and IGF code, as well as typical industry standards
- Experience with 3D modelling of land-based or maritime industrial plants
