The role as Communications Manager will lead on delivering the MSC’s communications aims and objectives across the North Atlantic region, with a particular focus on consumer communications and marketing of certified, sustainable seafood in Norway. You will devise and implement the MSC communications strategy and action plan for the wider North Atlantic region (including Iceland, Faroes, Norway and Greenland), to strengthen the MSC’s profile in the region and reinforce and grow support and engagement among key stakeholders, especially customers, media, influencers, retailers, processors, NGOs, and others.
You can live anywhere in Norway and work remotely.
The Communications Manager will play a leading role in taking the MSC’s message to regional audiences, including consumers.
Key responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the Program Director, develop and deliver the North Atlantic communications strategy
- Present the value of the MSC program to the at source stakeholders and develop different messages to different audiences with appropriate tools
- Secure partner support for promotional and marketing campaigns that profile the benefits certified, sustainable seafood
- Incorporate commercial and fisheries objectives into the overarching communications plan and activities
- Manage day-to-day media relations, including enquiries and coordinating media campaigns, including creative agencies and consultants
- Design and execute media activities, (press conferences, press trips, one-to-one briefings), and generate press releases, background information and other written materials as required; deliver the outcome of the outcome of the press conferences, and trips to the North Atlantic regional stakeholders
- Develop targeted press releases, and other communications materials, including social media content, to support the activity of North Atlantic stakeholders
- Ensure website and scheduled mail chimp newsletters are up to date and profile relevant content, including marketing materials and promotions
- Work in coordination with the Global Communications and Marketing department
- Develop and lead the MSC’s events across the North Atlantic, in line with the overarching country/regional strategy
- Use relevant market research to inform existing and future marketing initiatives, analyzing marketing campaign results against overall objectives and KPIs, reporting on campaign performance and effectiveness
- Promote MSC certification, expanding eco-labelling in Norway, and facilitating cross-regional collaboration.
Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent experience in a communications/marketing related field
- Knowledge of the seafood and/or environmental sector is desirable
Skills and Experience:
- Proven role-specific communications, B2B and marketing experience in a similar or transferable role
- A good understanding of social media and its deployment in strategic communications
- Experience organizing and developing events, with B2B partner engagement, newsletter and website development, as well as other digital media communications channels
- Proven ability to work across marketing and communications functions including website development, translation, and design
- Well developed IT skills, including use of standard software packages
- Fluent in Norwegian and English; additional languages (e.g., Icelandic, Faroese, Greenlandic) a plus
MSC works globally across multiple time zones so the pattern of hours may vary according to operational needs. Some domestic and international travel and overnight stays may be required.
