About the Unit
Yara Insurance Department (YID) is the central unit for insurance in Yara and is part of the Finance area. The department is based in Oslo and has a global mandate for insurance and delivers insurance solutions and provides advisory to Yara subsidiaries worldwide.
The department has the responsibility for multiple insurance lines which are placed either as separate policies or as global insurance programs with local insurance policies. Yara has a captive insurance company which is used as an insurance risk management tool. YID engages brokers to execute the corporate insurance strategy.
The workload in the insurance area has increased and there is a temporary need for more capacity in YID to support the operation and assure a high service level.
Working in the Insurance department means your function will support Yara's business worldwide. The Insurance Claims Specialist will be part of an expert team and work with their own dedicated tasks and with the other team members as may be required. Senior colleagues will provide training to support you in learning new skills and developing your career. The position has broad exposure to internal and external stakeholders.

This role is a temporary replacement for another person who will take part in an internal project which will initially last for one year. Hence we will offer a one-year contract, with the potential for extension.
Responsibilities
- Handling insurance claims in accordance with policy terms
- Report new claims and contact/instruct surveyors/insurers/loss adjusters as applicable
- Handle Marine Cargo claims and assist in handling claims under different insurance programs, such as PDBI.
- Keep up-to-date claims files and report reserves/claims statistics
- Follow up on policy documentation and invoicing
- Resolve queries from other departments/offices and support their interaction with insurers
Profile
- Ideally possesses higher education, with a preference for backgrounds in Law and/or Insurance.
- Preferably has some prior experience in claims management, and having expertise in marine or cargo insurance is considered a valuable asset.
- An advantageous understanding of shipping terminology and operations.
- Demonstrates a solution-oriented mindset with a continual commitment to enhancing processes.
- Exhibits exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptable team player known for their great communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
Additional Information
This position is located in Oslo and reports to the Head of Insurance.
