We are building solutions for a fully decarbonized and circular economy. Are you our new Technical Project Director?
Are you hungry to help drive the green transition, working alongside a top tier team of engineers and business people to develop and scale waste valorization technologies? Mana, a subsidiary of NG Group, has set off to disrupt the waste sector and scale new solutions to waste that today is sent to incineration or landfills. In order to execute our projects, we are recruiting a Technical Project Director to take on a leadership role on our Bioconversion project.
Who are we?
Mana is a new entrepreneurial venture from Norsk Gjenvinning Group (NG Group), Norway’s undisputed leader in waste management and recycling. NG Group consists of a portfolio of companies within the circular economy, offering services related to reuse, sustainable waste management, environmental services, and raw material extraction throughout value chains.
Mana was established in October 2022, following the launch of a new corporate strategy at NG Group, our parent company. The Group concluded that to truly pioneer circularity, we have to do something bold to improve downstream solutions for residual waste. Today, such residual waste is sent to incineration and landfills, contributing significantly to GHG emissions (1.4-1.7 CO2e tons per ton waste). Mana will instead use this waste as raw materials to produce clean energy and products. Our value creation is two-fold; we deal with society’s growing waste problem, and we help meet the increasing demand for clean energy. Our approach is collaborative; we engage in strategic partnerships with technology companies and upstream and downstream customers.
What is our Bioconversion project?
Bioconversion involves using wet-organic waste to produce biomethane for heavy transport, industry, or energy, biofertilizer for agriculture, and CO2 for industrial use.
Mana’s objective is to industrialize the bioconversion solution, developing five new plants within 2030. We will build a leading infrastructure position, first in Norway, thereafter in Northern Europe, leveraging NG Group’s strong position in the total waste management market, with access to feed streams and existing site locations for new plants.
What will you do?
As our technical Project Director (Bioconversion, Execution) you will:
- Take the lead on executing FEED studies, contracting, construction, installation and commissioning, follow-up according to progress
- Manage daily contact with clients
- Work closely with other members of Mana and the Bioconversion team, reporting to the Project Director Bioconversion
- Get involved in venture-building and other projects within the Mana portfolio, including clean energy, biocarbon and hydrogen projects
What qualities are we looking for?
- Education at university level, preferably technical
- At least 15 years' experience, mainly from technical project work within process industry and with major projects relating to studies, fabrication, and commissioning and contract responsibilities. Operating and commercial experience is also appreciated
- Leadership skills, proactiveness and drive to motivate self and others to push ahead
- Ability to understand and manage complex projects and multiple parallel processes
- Willingness to adapt to new responsibilities in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
- Willingness to travel and spend some time at sites, contractors, and suppliers
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including fluency in English and Norwegian
What are we offering?
The role offers the opportunity to:
- Take on a central role in enabling the commercialization of disruptive green technologies.
- Grow with a venture that has bold ambitions to create impact at scale, and which is strongly backed by its parent company, NG Group
- Take on increasing responsibilities as the venture and its project portfolio develops, with flexibility to shape your future role depending on strengths and interests
- Work alongside an ambitious team with complementary experience from industry, science and technology, and top-tier management consulting
- Join an entrepreneurial culture based out of our own Mana offices in central Oslo
- Compensation in line with market levels
