We are seeking a Software Engineer for the NOV Digital Product and Automation group in Stavanger. As part of an agile team, this position will drive the platform development for control system and connected products. At NOV, we are world leading in our field and we aim to continue to be so. Therefore, we are now focusing on innovating and improving our products further. You like working with new technology that can help set new standards for future generation drilling rigs. As an employee you’ll be working in a development team with other software engineers where the main activities revolve around design, implementation and testing.
Responsibilities
- Participate and lead in technical planning & requirements gathering phases including design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document engineering software applications.
- Ensuring that technical software development process is followed on the project, familiar with industry best practices for software development.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.
- Design and develop applications, integration with cloud technologies
- Contributing ideas and efforts towards internal projects and working as part of a team to find solutions on various problems.
- Maintain and support existing applications built mainly on .NET platform, ensuring site availability
- Use an array of different tools/technologies that will require continual learning
- Engage in incident management, problem solving and solution implementation
- Identify and report risks, issues, and dependencies of assigned tasks/projects
- Monitor and perform regular security and maintenance activities
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field (or combined with related experience)
- 4+ years’ experience in programming with .NET; C#
- Knowledge and experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- Possess strong experience with object-oriented design and architectural design practices.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps fundamentals and solutions.
- Knowledge of Industrial control system and Human Machine Interface(HMI).
- Knowledge of Industrial network and network protocol: TCP/IP, Modbus, OPC, OPC UA.
- Strong experience with Git, CI/CD tools.
- Up to date on development tools, programming techniques, design patterns, deployment approaches and automation.
- Considers writing unit tests an essential part of producing quality code.
- Experienced in working with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of containers, build systems and infrastructure automations.
