Exciting Discovery Project Lead position in an innovative biopharmaceutical company
Nykode Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Scientist to join the newly established Tolerance Research Therapy Area team as Discovery Project Leader.
As Discovery Project Leader at Nykode Therapeutics, you will have a key position in the research organization and broad area of responsibility with the opportunity to significantly impact company ambitions and the lives of patients suffering from chronic diseases.
In this role, you will be the responsible leader for innovation, research, vaccine, and novel immunotherapeutic drug discovery and development activities in the field of immune tolerance and autoimmune diseases as well as be a key contributor to the strategic development of a newly established research therapy area to ensure the ambitions of Nykode Therapeutics to unlock the future of medicines.

The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Be a core part of team leading the strategic development of a research therapy area in a leading biotech
- Function as disease therapy area expert and keep up with the current technological and scientific developments in the field.
- Actively craft innovative discovery projects within therapy area and lead project team(s) of scientists efficiently and responsibly
- Initiate, plan, manage and deliver projects to advance Nykode’s drug discovery and development pipeline, serving to milestones, timelines and stakeholders
- Engage actively in novel technical developments to support therapy area
- Keep abreast of the competitive landscape in the assigned area and related therapeutic approaches
- Contribute to or take lead in cross-functional project teams internally and externally
- Perform risk management assessments with the team and other relevant stakeholders
- Initiate and co-ordinate project related activities with external partners e.g. academic, CROs or other companies.
- Hold internal/external presentations (both written and oral) to stakeholders, collaborators, and senior management
- Participate in identification, initiation, coordination, and collaboration with external academic or commercial partners for preclinical candidate evaluation, interpretation of scientific data and due diligences
- Contribute to high-quality written documentation and presentation of work to enable publications of data in peer-reviewed journals, regulatory submissions (IMPD, IB, CTA) and patent filings
The role will report to the Head of Tolerance Research Therapy Area
Education and Experience
- You have a Ph.D. with an excellent scientific background and considerable working experience within the fields of autoimmunity, immunology, or immunotherapy.
- You have a minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in discovery and early-stage product development and/or evaluation in industry or academia.
- You have considerable experience leading cross-functional research teams in a matrix setting.
- You have experience in managing collaborations with external partners e.g., academic, CROs or other industry.
- You are an experienced collaborative team player who is enthusiastic, positive and enjoys a dynamic working environment.
- You are eager to work at the forefront of innovation and can adapt to the challenges and changes of such.
- You have an open mindset with a focus on innovative ideas but maintain quality-conscious, structure, and accuracy.
- You are proactive and able to work independently.
- You can prioritize and manage your time to readily tackle unforeseen circumstances.
- You are an excellent communicator both in writing and verbally, fluent in English (working language).
Travel
Limited if based in Oslo, more regularly if based in Kongens Lyngby. You will have the opportunity to participate in conferences and travel related to internal and external stakeholder management.
