Senior Marine Claims Adjuster

We are looking to strengthen our team of Marine Claims Adjusters based in Bergen or Oslo with a senior hire.

Providing a first-class claims service to our clients is central to what we do, and the Marine Claims Adjusting team deals with all types of Hull & Machinery and Loss of Hire claims, such as machinery breakdowns, salvage, collisions, and fires onboard.

As a senior member of the Marine Claims Adjusting team your primary responsibilities will be:

• Adjusting complex Hull & Machinery, Loss of Hire and General Average claims, including third party liability, collision, and recoveries
• Close cooperation with Marine Claims handlers on various claims handling aspects including interpretation of policy conditions and recoveries
• Assisting and advising brokers and clients on various marine claims adjusting issues, including the interpretation of policy terms and conditions
• Providing internal training and advice to your own team as well as to other teams
• Promoting Gard’s claims lead product and adjusting capabilities in relevant markets

Who are you:

The successful candidate will preferably have a formal degree or certificate in marine claims adjusting plus five or more years’ work experience with a marine insurance provider or broker. A strong ship technical, nautical, legal or other relevant background may compensate for lack of relevant work experience.

Furthermore, you:

• have an eye for detail yet are able to appreciate the wider commercial landscape

• are capable of handling large amounts of data, as well as technical and legal text

• have good IT skills and are proficient in Excel

• are able to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients

• are able to structure and organize tasks and work independently, yet still be able to perform and contribute to a team-orientated environment

• are highly motivated to learn as well as to share knowledge

• have a solution and result-oriented mindset

• have strong written and oral communication skills in English
