Senior Project Engineer

ABB in Hammerfest are looking for experienced automation engineers to be part of our local engineering team. Tasks will mainly consist of supporting our projects for our customers/sites or supporting the customer at site in the region.

Your responsibilities

• Apply process dynamics competence in the design, implementation, commissioning, and service of control systems for oil & gas production systems.
• Participate in installation, commissioning and service assignments.
• Engineering of automation solutions on ABB control systems 800xA.
• PLC programming & HMI design. Installation and setup of IT-infrastructure for automation systems.
• Establish system design, implement and document the solutions according to customer’s requirements.
• Assists customers on technical issues, interacts with official contacts, contractors, and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables.
• Create work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility and ensure quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Assign tasks to and coordinate work with entry level engineers, technicians, administrative staff or operations center engineers.
• For experienced applicants - senior/lead engineers: coordinates engineering discipline across several projects; provide technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities; prepare complete project documents in one’s area of responsibility; completes risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions; reports any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution; may functionally lead a small team.

Your background

• Engineering degree (B.Sc./M.Sc.) within the areas of automation, cybernetics, IT, process control or similar.
• Understanding of control systems, HW design, computer systems and process automation.
• Site experience is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates might be considered and should attach a print of their grades with the application.
• Flexibility and a wish to undertake responsibility. Initiative, interpersonal skills and efficiency.
• Ability to work structured, systematic, independently and in a team.
• High professional integrity. Ability and motivation for personal development and challenges.
• Communicative skills within team and towards customer. Fluent English, written and spoken. Good Scandinavian language, written and spoken.
• Permanent residence permit in Norway is a requirement.
