Product & Consumer is a new business unit in News Media that holds the ownership for all user facing consumer products and their development. This includes end to end responsibility for the customer journeys and experiences. Product & Consumer is responsible for user revenue growth in News Media by ensuring capitalization of our end users. We operate in both Norway, Sweden and Finland and work closely with News Media Technology and editorial teams.
Are you our new Data Scientist?
Insights & Predictions is a new team in News Media Product & Consumer (Subscription Norway, CBM). Our team has the commercial mandate towards our users in the Norwegian market. Insights & Predictions is responsible for commercial analysis across all brands (VG, Aftenposten, E24, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad and more). The team has a focus on building segmentation- and prediction models to create personalized user experiences for customers in all Norwegian brands. With a focus on ML/AI and data-driven processes, we want to drive engagement and increase CLV for our customer base. You will be a part of a team that consists of Analysts, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists who are constantly driving value with data. This role will be critical to our mission to build and develop our data science function going forward.
Your responsibilities :
Develop segmentation models with a basis in behavioral and customer data across all of the Schibsted brands
Responsible for the development and operationalization of ML models or LLMs for a wide range of business use cases. Example: Churn prediction, Next Best Action, Recommendations, Classifications, Optimization.
Experimenting and analyzing the recommendation systems for our front pages
Finding, cleaning, transforming, and scheduling data pipelines as required.
Develop dashboards for reporting on brands and products, e.g. campaign effectiveness, new sales, product engagement, churn, survival curves, renewal rates.
Diving into data, communicating with colleagues on different levels, and seeking new ways to solve our biggest problems.
Creating insights by connecting facts with new data points and presenting those with suggested actions to your stakeholders.
Who are we looking for?
We need to strengthen our capabilities within applied analytics, machine learning, and AI, and we are looking for a person who will contribute to taking this area to the next level. We want to increase our capabilities and maximize the value of utilizing behavioral and customer data across all brands in Schibsted. To deliver on our visions within applied data and analytics, we are looking for a Data Scientist who likes to show initiative, is self-driven, and is a great problem solver who loves to find insight, personalize, and automate with Data and AI/ML. The role is an excellent match if the following describes you:
Relevant degree in Economics and Finance, Computer Science/Statistics/Math or Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum of a couple of years of experience in the field of Data Science, Engineering, and/or Analytics.
Strong knowledge in Python/R and SQL, and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks for ML.
Experience using cloud technology related to analytics is appreciated
Experience within commercial customer-centric data & analytics is a plus
You are a problem solver and can communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Good collaboration and communication skills.
