What can I expect from the job in 2023?

As our Sustainability Manager, you will be instrumental in building and executing our sustainability strategies. This entails ensuring we achieve ISO 14001 certification and collaborating with the Compliance Director on this front. Your responsibilities will cover every facet of the business, from organizational structuring to shaping the messaging used in our marketing department. The role requires a thorough understanding of tools such as LCA and EPD and the development of a framework for leveraging these tools to build trust with our customers and ensure our promises are kept.

With reTyre's rapid growth and plans for expansion into multiple countries, your role will evolve to ensure that our sustainability initiatives are implemented and maintained across all our global operations. You will be involved in integrating sustainable practices in every new market we venture into and ensuring that these practices are in line with the highest global standards.

Who are you?

You have several years of experience in sustainability, with a deep knowledge of ISO and CE standards related to sustainability. Familiarity with LCA, EPD, and other relevant tools is crucial. You are detail-oriented, solution-focused, and have the capability to assume responsibility. Your role is pivotal in guiding our company towards a greener future.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Strategy Development: Establish, lead, and execute sustainability strategies that align with reTyre's vision.
2. Certification Achievement: Secure the ISO 14001 certification and maintain its standards as well as other relevant certifications based on the developed strategy.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with the Compliance Director and other teams to ensure company-wide adherence to sustainability practices.
4. Cross-team Collaboration: Assist the marketing department in framing genuine and effective sustainability messages for our customers. Work closely with the supply chain manager and logistics employees to secure and ship materials and products in a sustainable way.
5. Tool Utilization: Develop and oversee the framework for tools like LCA and EPD to ensure we maintain trustworthiness in the market as well as effectively acquire and develop an internal knowledge base that is well-structured and documented.
6. Risk Assessment: Identify potential sustainability risks and develop strategies to address these concerns.
7. Education and Training: Foster a culture of sustainability within the company by designing and implementing training programs. Educate the organization on sustainability and keep people engaged and enthusiastic.
8. Reporting: Regularly report to the executive team on our sustainability progress and challenges.

Qualifications:

• Education: Degree in Environmental Science, Business Sustainability, or a related field.
• Experience: Several years of experience in sustainability roles, with a track record of achieving tangible results.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, analytical abilities, and comprehensive knowledge of sustainability standards and tools.
• Certifications: ISO and CE related to sustainability will be advantageous.
• Language: Proficiency in both written and spoken English. Norwegian and other languages are a plus.

Who will my colleagues be?

As a Sustainability Manager, you will be a part of the Operations department. Reporting primarily to Alex (COO), expect a close collaboration with all leaders and key personnel in the company, since sustainability affects every aspect of our operations. You will be working alongside other roles within Operations, like Compliance and HR.
