ScaleAQ has 900 employees, spread across 20 offices in Norway, as well as Scotland, Iceland, Canada, Tasmania, Chile, Poland, and Vietnam. Our vision is to create the aquaculture of the future by fostering growth, optimizing, and upgrading the industry. We are 40 employees in our software department in Bergen and Florø. Our turnover in 2022 was 2.1 billion NOK.
The Future Team (data team)
The software department in ScaleAQ has five different product teams, a platform team, and a design team. The Future team is one of the product teams and is responsible for a planning tool that allows our customers to plan both short and long term. The product currently has its own optimization and ML engine which, through advanced mathematical calculations, helps make the plans provide a basis for the best possible production based on various parameters. We now wish to strengthen this effort in Norway and are looking for someone who can take responsibility for this area.
As a Data Scientist/Data Modeling Analyst in ScaleAQ, you will:
- Contribute to greater integration of optimization in our product, Future.
- Automate, streamline, and improve production planning in the industry using ML and AI.
- Structure, clean, and enhance historical production data for use in ML.
- Help ensure that the data we collect and the products we develop can assist the industry in developing in a sustainable direction.
- Be a driving force and contributor to the technology, algorithms, techniques, and architectures developed in and for Future can be used elsewhere in the organization and in other products.
Who we are looking for:
- Good understanding of applied mathematics, especially optimization and linear programming.
- Ability to handle and model large amounts of data.
- Those who wish to contribute to sustainable food production globally, and are ready to use AI, ML, and other technology to further improve this.
- You have an education from a college or university in optimization, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, artificial intelligence, or computer science.
- Experience with solver software like Gurobi or similar.
- Relevant work experience in optimization, actuarial science, mathematics, and/or data analysis.
- Experience from the aquaculture industry will be an advantage but not necessary.
- Ability to communicate well in English.
