For our Hydrocarbon Management department, we are looking for a candidate to fulfil the position of

Hydrocarbon Accountant

Location: Sandnes, Norway

 

Job description

The Hydrocarbon Accountant represents the interface between Commercial & Sales function and Finance function. The person is responsible for a holistic and consistent approach of calculating, reporting, allocating and forecasting revenues and costs for the hydrocarbon streams. The Hydrocarbon Accountant is also in charge and is the main focal point for all reporting to authorities. The person will be required to potentially work with little supervision and may be required to support hydrocarbon accounting activities in other country locations.

Reports to: Head of Hydrocarbon Management

 

Main duties and responsibilities 

Production and Sales Volumes:

  • Collate and report actual production and production forecasts for Operated and Non-Operated assets in co-ordination with subsurface and technical teams.
  • Collate and report actual sales and forecasted sales per (Operated and Non-Operated) asset in accordance with commercial agreements (including where appropriate, projected timing for liftings of oil cargoes).
  • Determine assumptions on volume, transportation costs and revenues allocations between fields, wells and terminals as necessary.
  • Ensure quality of volume data and provide suggestions and improvements to allocation and reporting procedures as necessary.
  • Resolve queries in relation to volumes and produced reports.
  • Maintain, update and quality assure sales information (volumes and contracts) in the relevant IT systems.
  • Maintain, update and quality assure sales information (volumes and contracts) and provide the required monthly data to enable hydrocarbon sales invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure sub-allocation reports for operated assets are issued to partners in a timely manner.  Reporting to authorities: REMIT reporting, CVA's, etc.

Transportation and Processing:

  • Transportation and processing cost forecasting/modelling for forecast, budget,
  • Verify volumes and price content of transportation and processing tariff invoices in accordance with the relevant commercial agreement (either with transport system operator or third parties).
  • Review and manage tariff formulas.
  • Review annual reconciliations and in particular make-up and carry forward positions. Ensure such data is considered in the setting of capacity bookings in infrastructure and terminal.
  • Review opex cost share calculations and subsequent annul reconciliations.
  • Prepare invoices for secondary market capacity with counterparts.

Financial Analysis:

  • Calculate and analyse fields' and contracts' performance to provide basis for potential discussions at how further optimization or risk mitigation can be performed for the Neptune Energy hydrocarbon streams. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, capacities paid for but not used, penalties under the sales contracts, deliveries under the contracts.
  • Coordination of Country production volume analysis to be reviewed by the Head of Hydrocarbon Management for Group wide stakeholders and input into key internal and external reports on volumes and revenue.
  • Be a focal point on discussions around revenue recognition for new operations.

Hedging:

  • Providing input to hedging process, comprising forecast volumes and prices.

General:

  • The Hydrocarbon Accountant has to work with all other Hydrocarbon Accountants and shall act as a backup of the others if needed.

 

Required qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience with volume reporting, stock accounting, sales and invoicing of oil & gas streams, or similar products, is a requirement.
  • Relevant bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • 3-5 years experience, preferably as financial controller or accountant working in a multi-currency organization.
  • Preferably 3-5 years' experience in oil and gas business.
  • Use of SAP would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of the work and activities for which the job is providing support.
  • Ability to communicate and understand technical specialists and relay the information to others in an understandable way.
  • Strong service orientation and project management skills.
  • Very good listening and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English. Dutch/Norwegian is a plus.
