International Forest finance senior adviser
We are looking for a skilled and committed international forest finance senior adviser.
You will contribute to our international policy work to increase and improve international financial support for protecting rainforests and Indigenous peoples’ rights, targeting climate and biodiversity funding, REDD+ and other financial incentives.
Based in our policy team, you will work in an experienced and dedicated team of eight people that develop and execute RFNs international policy work, and collaborate with colleagues and partner organisations working to protect the rainforest across the Amazon, Congo Basin and Southeast Asia.
Responsibilities involve:
- Contribute to our international policy work targeting climate and biodiversity funding and REDD+
- Develop and implement advocacy plans to maximise RFN and partners’ influence
- Identify and influence relevant international policies and financing mechanisms with a potential for large impact on sustainable rainforest management, including by indigenous peoples and local communities
- Develop analysis and materials to be used for advocacy purposes, by RFN and partner organisations, to support and inform our agenda
- Developing impactful policy messages on relevant issues
- Support RFNs country teams and partners on developing and implementing country specific policies on climate and biodiversity funding and REDD+
- Support RFN partners in linking their national policy work to relevant international policy arenas and processes
Desired skills:
- Knowledge, strategic thinking, and advocacy skills on topics related to climate and biodiversity funding, REDD+ and Indigenous peoples’ rights
- Ability to influence relevant international political processes for climate and biodiversity funding, REDD+ and carbon markets
- Ability to gather and analyse data for advocacy purposes
- Ability to build relations and networks
- Full fluency in English required, Norwegian and rainforest country languages (in particular Spanish and Portuguese) are an asset
Wanted qualifications:
- Relevant higher education. All formal education can be compensated by relevant experience
- Multiple years of working experience, preferably with international policy and advocacy work related to climate, biodiversity or development funding, REDD+ or Indigenous peoples rights
