Nofence is a Norwegian scale up who has built the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock. Virtual fencing is a pretty new thing to the world and we are currently leading the race, with 50,000 active collars in 4+ markets. 

Our current milestone is to be the first company in the world to reach 1,000,000 active collars, disrupting how farming is done across the world. But steaks are high when going for international expansion. To make sure that we still goat the top of the podium we will need the best Product Designer for our Product & Engineering team.

Our goal is to improve the welfare of the farmer, animals and the soil. We want our product to be recognised amongst farmers as a tool as obvious as the tractor, and a technology for utilizing land resources as nature intended.

Our Product & Engineering team consists of engineers with a wide range of skills. We design and develop the mechanics of our physical product and the electronics that goes into it. We develop the firmware that runs on the device, and the cloud service it communicates with. We design and develop the mobile and web apps that our customers use. We are also responsible for the development of many internal applications and tools that keep our business humming. In short, there’s a lot of exciting work to be done!

As a product designer you will be part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, who's responsible for developing new hardware from prototype phase to volume manufacturing. 

• Generate and visualize design concepts and mechanical solutions for our future products.
• Create 3D models, machine drawings and bill of materials.
• Design for manufacturing by cooperation with external manufacturing partners and vendors.
• Contribute on developing the company's internal product development processes.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical design, product design, automation engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience developing an electro-mechanical product ideally manufactured in high volumes.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  

• Motivated by working in an autonomous cross-functional team.
• Structured with the ability to read and understand certification standards.
• Comfortable working in an English speaking work environment.

About Nofence

Managing livestock has always been a challenge. Humanity has tried everything from herding with dogs to walling the animals in with barbed wire, electric, and wooden fences, but these are costly and time-consuming solutions and often in conflict with the local wildlife. It has also left vast areas of potential pasture overgrown and underutilized.

Nofence began in a small Norwegian town named Batnfjordsøra, many years ago when our Founder and CTO, Oscar Hovde, set about making his idea of virtual fencing for livestock a reality. As the idea grew, so did the interest; the man with a plan soon became people with a purpose. And with the help of our customers—whose input, innovation, and patience continue to be an integral part of our product development—Oscar’s idea blossomed. Today, we are a team of ambitious and international professionals with a set of shared goals: to support livestock farmers, improve animal welfare, and restore the fertility of our soil. About us

Our talented and experienced people come from various and diverse backgrounds. Many have agricultural experience—and many do not—and the same can be said of our devoted investors, of which there are many. Our clients are primarily farmers, though not all of them!

A better life for farmers, animal welfare and sustainable, regenerative farming are why our products exist in the first place - and we are constantly looking for innovative ways of advancing them. So far, our clients have used Nofence in a range of creative ways, including regenerative cattle farming, conservation grazing with goats, regenerative grazing with sheep, and even government work! Yet we have only just scratched the surface, and already have 250 million hours of operation on animals with recorded behaviour data to explore.
