Do you want to implement our sensor fusion and signal processing algorithms in our new products?
Norwegian Subsea is a leading manufacturer of high-performance Motion Reference Units (MRU) and motion sensors for marine, subsea, and offshore wind energy applications.
Norwegian Subsea was started by passionate NTNU graduates in 2014. Today, we are an innovative, fast-growing company that provides our MRUs to over 50 major players in the marine, subsea and offshore wind energy space on every continent.
Our flagship product is a motion sensor that measures motion in 6 degrees of freedom, with corresponding velocities and accelerations. This sensor finds applications in various areas, such as Active Heave Compensation (AHC). It is commonly used in ships or vessels transporting cargo, where our sensors are employed to measure the vessel's motion.
We are an international team with great momentum and are excited to grow our team. We are seeking driven individuals who are energized by the opportunity to build a thriving, diverse and international R&D environment.
Embedded Engineer
We are searching for a skilled embedded developer to complement our expertise on the software side of things. The reason for this need arises from our upcoming code modifications, requiring additional in-house software competence.
We are looking for a skilled, motivated, and versatile software engineer that can be responsible for implementing our sensor fusion and signal processing algorithms in our new products and systems. Your goal will be to develop, implement, test, and maintain software for Norwegian Subsea’s products with focus on embedded systems and signal processing. A main project will be to develop software for Norwegian Subsea’s new INS systems.
At Norwegian Subsea, embedded encompasses two aspects: microprocessors and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). We already have a specialist in FPGA coding internally, and familiarity with this is advantageous. However, we are now looking for someone more of an all-rounder, especially with experience in microprocessing and real-time programming. In this role, you will be responsible for software and architecture. While the sensor fusion algorithm expert will provide assistance, our new embedded developer needs knowledge of the implementation process.
Typical work tasks
- Implement signal processing and navigation algorithms (e.g., Kalman filter).
- Develop and maintain software for embedded systems.
- Design software architecture for new products.
- Optimize code for increased performance on embedded platforms with limited capacity.
- Organize code and libraries.
- Develop strategies for testing and verification of code.
Areas of responsibility
- Software development for Norwegian Subsea’s embedded systems.
- Development of software test routines.
- Organization and maintenance of software libraries and architecture.
Who are we looking for?
Desired education / background:
- Master of engineering (Software/Computer Systems/Cybernetics)
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience
- General: Experience with real-time programming and microprocessor-based systems
Technology:
- Language: C/C++, Python OS: Linux, Zephyr, freeRTOS
- Source control: Git
- Communication protocols: Ethernet, UART, SPI, I2C
Theory:
- Digital signal processing
- Sensor fusion algorithms
Why Norwegian Subsea?
We hope that you find our journey ahead as exciting as we do. We have invested significantly in our sensor technology, and you will now be an integral part of securing state-of-the-art quality to our products. Your work and your impact will be central to the company`s future success and growth. You will take part in developing new products as well as maintain and upgrade our existing products. We can we offer you:
- Excellent salary and benefits.
- Competitive bonus.
- Stock options programme
- Insurance deal
- Offices close to public transport at Skøyen (with lunch).
- Opportunity to impact the direction of the company.
- Good financial backing.
- Already secured global and well-known customers.
- Flexible working hours.
- Anything you might need of equipment and courses to excel in your job
- Working with new technology and the experience of growing a young tech company.
