Reports to:

• Supervisor Drilling Engineering; 

Purpose:  

• Plan & execute drilling, completion and abandonment activities

Accountability & End Result:

• Apply and support HSE and Q best practises in planning of well operations
• Optimize available resources during planning and execution of well operations
• Apply Schedule & Cost performance analysis
• Comply to regulatory and corporate policies
• Manage allocated Service contracts

Assigned roles, responsibilities, procedures and other – general:

• Plan safe, environmentally sound and efficient well operations through collaborative efforts following the Well Design & Delivery Process and related policies/requirements
• Ensure well design and operations comply with corporate management standards and regulatory requirements 
• Provide technical support during operations (includes duty requirements/offshore as needed)
• Track, analyze and investigate challenges to improve operational performance
• Provide input for risk assessment and mitigation plans
• Monitor and analyze operational progress against plans and follow up on significant problems with corrective actions
• Develop accurate cost estimates inclusive of appropriate contingency and monitor
• Recommend implementation of new techniques and practices and conduct feasibility studies for new design concepts as needed
• Document and champion lessons learned
• Prepare and archive relevant documentation for well operations
• Support reporting to offshore, management, authorities
• Participate in duty schedule if required 

Specific roles and responsibilities:

• Assist the Drilling Supervisor in the coordination of offshore requirements and day-to-day events
• Provide offshore support by holding pre-spud meetings, and assistance during critical drilling and workover operations, such as casing/cementing jobs

Required competency:

• Master/Petroleum Engineer Degree or relevant education or experience
• Sufficient computer skills to fluently use office applications and wells engineering software (Landmark EDT/WellCat/WellPlan)
• Minimum 10 years experience as Drilling Engineer

Preferred competency:

• Experience with subsea templates and jackup drilling
• Thorough understanding of Norsok D-010
• Experience with WELS Operator
• Understand mathematical analysis, calculus, and other mathematics for design and troubleshooting
• Understanding of downhole mechanical concepts and processes  
• Able to work to develop new solutions to problems; skills to identify the source of the problem, create, and test solutions are needed
