We are seeking a System Engineer for the NOV Digital Product and Automation group in Stavanger. As part of an agile team, this position will drive the effort of automating production roll-out for our various control system and connected products. At NOV, we are world-leading in our field and we aim to continue to be so. Therefore, we are now focusing on innovating and improving our products further. You like working with new technology that can help set new standards for future generation drilling rigs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Improve and update existing systems, build infrastructure and refine working practice through automation.
- Lead the effort of standardizing solutions for maintaining the uptime of services by monitoring the availability and system health of our control systems and supporting applications.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience levels.
- Contributing ideas and efforts towards internal projects and working as part of a team to find solutions to various problems.
- Use an array of different tools/technologies that will require continual learning
- Triage and address security alerts reported by OT security systems
- Continually develop OT vulnerability and remediation capability to drive faster patching and mitigation cycles
- Manage and maintain Windows and Linux systems, apply system hardening industrial standards.
- Continuously improve the system architecture to ensure real-time acquisition and reporting systems remain current with the technological changes.
- Evaluates existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field (or combined with related experience)
- Graduates are encourage to apply and will be considered
- Strong knowledge and experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience with various scripts and formats such as Python, Powershell, JSON, YAML.
- Experience with container environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible.
- Strong knowledge of general networking and main protocols.
- Good knowledge of DevOps fundamentals and solutions
- Good knowledge of VMware infrastructure.
- Familiar with monitoring systems like Zabbix is a plus.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD tools.
