Senior Mooring Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer specializing in mooring activities to join our dedicated team for Floating Offshore Wind on a permanent basis. The position can be based in either our Norway (Oslo or Stavanger) or Australia (Perth) offices. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Lead and manage mooring (anchoring, towing, mooring, hook-up) technical scopes for Floating Offshore Wind developments (tenders and project execution).
• Perform the engineering activities related to the preparation and offshore installation of anchoring systems (drag embedment anchors, suction piles, driven piles, drilled/grouted piles) and mooring systems, including tow and hook-up/station keeping of floating wind turbine systems. 
• Produce all mooring related documentation related to engineering studies, tenders and projects.
• Perform required analysis of mooring systems for installation purposes using Orcaflex as required, or provide input on more detailed analysis (design analysis) to design houses as required from an installation perspective.
• Perform required analysis of mooring systems towing and station-keeping of floating wind turbine systems. 
• Specify vessels and equipment necessary to safely carry out the Project and consider and propose alternatives in order to make the operations more efficient. 
• Contribute and support necessary Risk Assessment processes (e.g. risk register, HAZID, HAZOP & Risk Assessment) in Studies, Tenders, Projects. 
• Provide detailed technical input on procurement required for scopes including permanent and temporary equipment. 
• Participate in mobilizations and installation activities offshore on vessels. 
  
• Oversee offshore operations during execution phase to ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure that activities are conducted in compliance with the Project standards in terms of Quality, Cost & Time.
• Use experience to propose innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction.
• Participate in Client / Contractor meetings and play active role in resolution of any project issues.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering.
• Operational experience is more important than mooring design experience, however it is expected that the candidate will be required to provide input on mooring design and understand the considerations surrounding mooring design for Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) on operational aspects.
• Experience and understanding of operational aspects related to mooring, towing, hook-up, station-keeping, proof-loading, pre-tensions, pre-stretch, is essential. 
• Robust understanding of mooring line components (both permanent and temporary) is essential – both from an operational perspective and design perspective. 
• Experience with a wide variety of offshore installation of anchors is valued. 
• Experience with vessels required for floating offshore wind transport and installation activities is essential (AHTS, AHT, CSV, etc). 
• Competence with performing analysis and checks in Orcaflex as part of the operational analysis is considered highly desirable.

• Self-motivated. Ability to work with minimum supervision in required area of expertise and capacity to coordinate with others and communicate.
• Good communication skills required. Must be fluent in both writing and speaking of English language and able to work with teams located in other regions in the world.
