Senior Software Engineer to Onyx CenterSource!

Onyx CenterSource is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer who wants to develop in an exciting international company in Tønsberg, Norway. The company needs you who are genuinely interested in programming and are willing to contribute and challenge so that you, us and our products take the next step.

Onyx CenterSource operates and develops its own services aimed at large international leading travel agencies and hotels. This position initially implies that you have experience with .Net development in C# and familiarity with MS SQL.

The company uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a platform for scaling and optimizing its services.

Location: Norway or remote Europe.

The Senior Software Engineer position forms part of the Technology Product Development Team. Reports to Technology Director.

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for:

• Provide analytical, technical and administrative knowledge in the life cycle of information technology solutions and systems software.
• Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow and data usage.
• Investigating problem areas following the software development lifecycle. o Expand existing software to meet the changing needs of systems and business alignment.
• Develop new software products from the ground up, staying true to our company’s core values and needs.
• Focus on creating fault-tolerant programming.
• Supports and develops software engineers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.
• Create scalable, automated solutions.
• Collaborates with architecture on proof of concept, R&D and product concept definition and business cases.
• Helps foster a positive, agile team environment, displaying teamwork, trust, accountability, respect and accountability in each interaction.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop high-quality software designs in alignment with architecture.

2. Follows the change control processes to ensure integrity of the production environment.

3. Identify, prioritize, size and execute tasks in the software development life cycle.

4. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions, as well as prepare the service delivery teams for supporting the capabilities in a highly available, production environment.

5. Perform validation and verification testing, as well as capacity planning, scalability and performance testing.

6. Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility.

7. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.

8. Document and maintain software functionality.

9. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems.

10. Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback.

11. Comply with project plans and industry standards.

12. Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting. Restricted Minimum

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or similar, a Master Degree is highly desirable.
• Eight (8) years of related work experience.
• Proven work experience as a Software Engineer.

Competencies:

• Supporting the technical design process by participating in the analysis of technical application requirements.
• Experience with test-driven development.
• Proficiency in software engineering tools.
• In-depth knowledge of transactional processing systems, modern web browser-based applications and APIs.
• Ability to document requirements and specifications.
• Ability to develop re-useable software from a full stack perspective using Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, VB.NET, PL/SQL or similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, Mac OS, Windows).
• In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services and public cloud service offerings, and how to create scalable, fault tolerant solutions while balancing cost of services leveraged.
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases & NoSQL databases; data pipeline processing and data lake experience is a plus.
• Experience developing applications running in both a public cloud and hybrid cloud environment.
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, enterprise application design patterns, automation, deployment approaches and computing environments in a hybrid, cloud-based ecosystem.
• Write tests for existing and created code to ensure compatibility, stability, scalability and performance.
• Proficient at playing Engineering role in Scrum/Agile development environments.
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.

• Team player attitude with a willingness to lead when necessary.
