Position Summary
We have an opening in our Geophysical Support Team for a Geophysicist with a few years of experience. Graduates with subject matter knowledge are encouraged to apply.
The key responsibilities are to provide geophysical support and advice to PGS commercial teams and clients; to conduct survey modeling and design of competitive and sound geophysical acquisition solutions; and to participate in project initiation stage, understand client’s requirements, recommend on technical specifications and geophysical decisions.
Geophysical support activities cover the full range from marine exploration and production seismic to high and ultra-high resolution seismic including site characterization for CCS and offshore wind farms. In this position you will interact as a subject matter expert with a wide variety of stakeholders, internal as well as external, meaning you must have very good collaborative skills.
This position can be based in Oslo, Norway; Weybridge, U.K.; or Houston, Texas.
Main Tasks
Survey Design & Geophysical Support
- Seismic survey design for proprietary and multi-client seismic surveys (towed multisensor streamer, OBS, P-cable)
- Geophysical feasibility studies and forward seismic modeling
- Special geophysical studies
- Marine source modeling
- Assist clients in the use Nucleus+
Technical Presentations and Training
- Participate in project and business development meetings and provide subject matter expertise.
- Support technical training of PGS staff.
Technology Governance and Competitor Intelligence
- Follow relevant technology internal and external developments closely
- Support PGS in applying new and advanced technology
Required qualifications
- Higher university degree in geophysics or similar
Preferred qualifications
- Good industry understanding of the seismic value chain, strong technical understanding of seismic acquisition and imaging technology.
- Comprehensive knowledge of survey planning, seismic modelling, signal analysis.
- Good understanding of data processing.
- Ability to present PGS’ technical solutions internally and externally
- Programming experience preferred
- Experience in project management preferred
