The Technology and Innovation Centre`s activities are to develop, produce and test state of the art products for geophysical applications within oil & gas, carbon capture and storage, and renewable energy industries. The position

This position is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to be part of the development, optimization and field introduction of a novel marine seismic acoustic source. The work includes complex non-linear systems, and you get a chance to work with highly skilled domain experts within electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and embedded real-time software.

This is a position where you can use your existing knowledge but also gain new knowledge and skills. The main focus is on development and implementation of control strategies and algorithms, and actual coding will be required.

Other skills we look for are creativity, curiosity, problem solving skills and cross-functional teamwork. The working language is English.

Key responsibilities and tasks.

• Develop and implement control strategies and algorithms.
• Develop models and simulators for testing of control algorithms. Perform testing, data analysis and optimization studies.
• Based on project need, propose and keep track of controls related tasks, suggest priorities, and plan and communicate timeline for completion with the rest of the team.
• Guide and supervise contractors or more junior resources working on controls.
• Develop and review product documentation.
• Assist in system qualification and testing.
• Ensure technical issues and/or questions related to the control system are resolved in a timely manner.
• Dependent on previous experience and interests, assist with other tasks in the project as needed to help achieve high level project goals

Who are we looking for?

You have been working for a minimum of five years in development and implementation of control strategies and algorithms. Preferably you have a Master of Science or PhD within Controls theory or Cybernetics, but candidates with other relevant education will also be considered..

If you thrive with cross-functional teams, solve technical challenges, and have experience of control system development and testing and complex, non-linear control methods, you might just be the one Shearwater is looking for.

Program and tools used are Simulink, MATLAB and Simcenter Amesim. You should have previously worked with these or similar tools.

Other background info:

• Documented experience with open and closed loop controls, including complex, non-linear systems
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink
• Knowledge of Kalman filters
• Experience with other programming languages, such as C, C++, Python and/or LabVIEW is a benefit
• Understanding of real-time operating systems

It is also important to have excellent interpersonal skills. The working language is English.
